At the end of July, I got a custom suit order, for my wedding in October, completed and paid for. During the measurements and conversation with the tailor/salesperson, I had specified that I usually wear a 50-Short for suit jackets. About 2-3 weeks later the custom order arrived in Rochester, MN. I returned to try the suit on and have notes for alterations taken down. The suit jacket was too large. It had been ordered as a 52-Short. I specifically stated that I wanted the width/sides of the suit taken-in if possible and for the sleeves/cuffs to be taken in as well. Being a large, I don't expect a perfectly contour to me. However, I expected the suit to be somewhat bespoke, or closely fitted to me, since it was a custom order, with a $400+ cost. Staff said they understood and marked on the suit where to make the alterations and wrote down my specifications. I returned this Friday, 9/2/2022, to try on the suit jacket after the alterations. The jacket was still too wide. There was far too much extra fabric hanging around my abdomen. It appeared to be the same width as when I had previously been there for the alterations visit. While wearing the jacket, if I moved my arms up from my sides by any degree, the sides of the jacket would move out from the waist in notable "wings". Even with the front-two jacket buttons fastened, there was enough fabric to pull the jacket a full 7 inches from my chest. Which is considerable, since I am overweight. When my arms were at my sides, the extra fabric would push out from my back and front, giving a "triangle" shape to my profile, if you were to view me from the side. I was obviously concerned about how the jacket looked, with my wedding close to a month away, and wanting to look presentable in front of my friends, family, and loved ones. I informed the staff of my concern about the jacket and asked for their opinion. All of the staff present at the store told me that the jacket was fine, it looked "Perfect", and that it was supposed to look like that. I felt confused and frustrated. I politely asked if any other alterations could be made to take in the sides or reduce the amount of fabric around my torso. The staff said there wasn't anything that they could do about the suit, no other alterations they could make. I then asked about their return policy and they said that I would receive half of the full cost paid. I then asked if the jacket could be reordered in a better fitting size, like a 50-Short. The answer was, yes. The staff was able to reorder the suit jacket in a 50-Short, at no extra cost to me, but as for when it arrives and how long it will take to make alterations, I am not sure. The staff said it is likely they will be able to get it to their store and altered before my wedding in October. Given the service so far and attention to detail, I am worried. Currently I am working with an independent seamstress, in Rochester to make the required alterations to the original suit jacket. Depending on which arrives on time and fits best, that one will be my pick. However, the whole experience at this Men's Warehouse location has been needlessly stressful, has left me feeling as though some of the staff there did not care about the importance of my order, and that I wasn't fully listened too. I greatly appreciated the help of the staff member today, who put in the new order for the suit jacket and genuinely listened to my concern. Thank you very much. As for anyone else looking for a custom suit, I would advise anyone to be careful when spending money at this Men's Warehouse location. If you do, pay extra attention to whatever details they write down and call them regularly to make sure they are following your specifications. Also, the stitching quality on the alterations are poor. After brining the suit jacket home, a seam on the cuff of the jacket has come loose and the stitching on the single vent on the back is coming loose as well. I will be updating my review when and if the new...
Read moreFirst I called 2 months in advance and then one week out to let them know I was coming with a party of 9 at a specific time so they were prepared, we already had all the required colors and specifications in the notes under are party. ( Which by the way was one heck of a process because they couldn't get the slim style we wanted that was in a picture from men's warehouse, we were all buying most of our outfits be so we could get the color and style we wanted and only renting shoes and one tie for me and the rest got bowties. When we got there they were not prepared and as the morning went on it was very disorganized and under staffed as the employee was constantly helping other people in the middle of helping us which caused lots of confusion when there should of been any. To top it off the computers went down twice. The customer service was horrible and the attitudes were horrible with no appreciation for how important the wedding day was. When asking them to take the measurements for tailoring he said they couldn't tailor it that way...? Slim... Anyway, this was all in the first group visit. So as the outfits got made and people started to come in to get the final tailoring multiple people came in and then they couldn't find there stuff and one of my groomsmen stuff never got maid and they're measurements were lost. We live outside of St cloud mn and all of my wedding party is around Rochester MN. I maid 4 special trips down to help/ make sure things were being done correctly as this is our most important day and our wedding. Still tailoring wasn't be done correctly and we had them tailored again to meet out specifications. During this we were treated very disrespectfully and without any compassion, and for the groomsmen we came down for we got the look we wanted but for the ones we couldn't make it to they refused to tailor that way and there reason was that each person was paying for there own and it was up to them, which I can understand but everyone in the initial visit agreed to do it our way to the staff at men's wearhouse and they all said they wanted it that way during the visit but it didn't get done that way. As if they got closer and people are getting their finishing touches again they were losing pants and couldn't find them causing people to come back multiple times. And then on our wedding day we find that the rentals we got were incorrect. I was the only one with a tie and all others on bowties... We got two bowties and the rest ties, when we were ordering the rentals I asked the gentleman multiple times if the shoes and tie and the rest bow ties were correct. His exact words were yes you are the only one with a tie and the rest have bow ties. When spending tens of thousands of dollars on a wedding and thousands of dollars on a photographer and countless time and preparation to get the look correct and you end up with this it is completely unacceptable. On the morning of the wedding which is a Sunday we were panicked and I sent somebody to men's Warehouse in eau Claire Wisconsin as this was the closest place to our venue and their response was simply we can't help you so we went on with are wedding with this mess up. I think this is completely unacceptable and I was left speechless. During the pictures after the ceremony my shoe broke the bottom came off and this made the day...
Read moreMy recent visit to Men's Wearhouse at Apache Mall in Rochester, MN left me deeply disappointed. The entire experience was characterized by understaffing, unprofessionalism, and a complete lack of customer care.
When I walked into the store seeking assistance with purchasing a replacement suit, I was met with a complete lack of attention from the staff from start to end. After waiting nearly 20 minutes to be acknowledged i finally flagged down 1 of the 2 employees attention who, granted, were attempting to help what must have been rush hour for this location shortly before close. Not only did they fail to measure me when I explicitly asked for help (since it has been several years since I bought my last suit), but they also brushed me off and suggested I look around the store until I found something I liked- despite having told them exactly what I was interested in. This level of disinterest and rudeness is simply unacceptable in any retail establishment, especially in one where customer rely heavily on the help and guidance of the staff.
Furthermore, the staff's attire, including T-shirts, yoga pants, jeans, and casual shoes, was far from the professional standard one would expect in a men's suit store. This further conveyed a lack of professionalism and commitment to their roles. Im not saying they had to be dressed to the 9's but I would expect someone working in a clothing store to be dressed a little more for the part.
The selection and quality of suits were severely lacking, and the price points were overinflated for the limited offerings available. It was shocking to witness another patron leaving the store, opting to drive an hour to the La Crosse location, just to avoid the service and lack of options at the Rochester branch when trying to buy a custom suit for the last two hours. Thankfully the La Crosse location hold far better hours.
In conclusion, my experience at Men's Wearhouse in Apache Mall, Rochester, MN, was characterized by understaffing, apathy, unprofessionalism, and a complete disregard for customer satisfaction. The lack of assistance, poor selection, indifference of the staff, and inflated prices make it clear that this location falls short of the standards one would expect from such a retailer. I strongly advise potential customers to explore alternative options like Knight's Menswear or visit other Men's Wearhouse locations for a more satisfying and professional shopping experience. Such a shame because I have had such great experiences with other Men's Warehouse locations. This location does not represent the men's wearhouse brand well nor speak for all men's wearhouse stores, however when it comes to this specific location I would...
