I was at this Aldi yesterday after hearing such great things about it online in a forum. My experience yesterday was not at all acceptable and I had left a review that I can no longer see so I will repost. The place was not maintained, there were empty shelves and only employees I saw were the two cashiers. I found a few small things but could not find a free cart either outside or inside. The store was not busy, there were maybe 5 customers on line waiting to be split between 2 cashiers. I got called over with a “come here, unload”. I tried to be nice, I said “hello how are you” when it was my turn to be rung up. I had four items, a nerf dog ball launcher, flowers for a friend, and two small freezable dog toys. I received no response, I saw there was a brown paper bag and I opened it and the cashier would not look at me and took the items and threw in a shopping cart next to her. I picked them up and placed in the brown bag and put back in cart and promptly paid, the cashier looked annoyed and had already called another customer over.
There was no one else besides that lady in line. I started to wheel the cart away as she started that person and she grabbed the cart and slammed it against the station and threw that lady’s milk in the cart while my stuff was still in it! I said “thats not my milk” and she said “thats not your cart to take, now get your things and leave”. I worded “wow”, took my brown bag out of the cart and said “have a nice day” and left. I will not be back to this ALDI again. There are better friendlier places not a mile away that know about good customer service and just because they claim prices are cheaper does not excuse rude behavior. I’ll try another ALDI one day but this one is not going to receive my business ever...
Read moreAldi is much smaller than a typical grocery store (ie Shop Rite or ACME). The size provides strengths and weaknesses. The good news is its easy to find things, the bad news is the selection is limited.
The problem I found is all the time I saved in their tiny floor plan I lost waiting on line. Typically only 2 employees are on shift, and the policy is to wait until the line is very long before opening another register. Aldi's has a fascinating business model that is incredibly efficient. Their prices are lower than most places as they have less overhead.
I lived near here and gave it multiple chances, but the ultimate reason I would not go back is the meat and seafood selection. It was simply horrid. I'd much prefer to spend a few extra bucks on my animal protein and get decent quality. Also the produce was inconsistent, again you get what you paid for. So the fruit will always be inexpensive, but usually l inferior quality compare to other chain...
Read moreOur family has been shopping Aldi here and around North Jersey for just about 10 years. Went just a few days ago and thought I would drop a review. There was a time during the pandemic where I thought some of the Aldi house brand items we love got a little expensive, but this last shopping trip showed once again what a good value they offer.
Some products run sweeter than typical ones at Costco or ShopRite. Try the Dave's Killer Bread knock-off they now sell and some of their marinara/pasta sauces. Sweeter than the original or popular brands. But. . . oh that clam chowder and that sweet raison granola crunch cereal . . . gotta have it; nothing like it in any other store.
Our all time favorites here are just about any variety of Clancy's chips, the raison granola cereal, the house cans of clam chowder, and soft cookies. Keep up the...
