Love the Strand and grateful for it being in our city. A long time resident here and supporter of this theater since it's renovation years ago. What I want to voice is that I was very sad to hear LIZ the matriarch of our theater for many, many years was given her walking papers. She was told the Strand was restructuring and no longer needed her. A person who has given much of her life to the Strand. A person who brought a family an old nostalgic feel to us all. Even the vintage car she parked out side. She loved that theater and we loved her. She struggled on the salary or wage she received, I'm sure. We could have easly found a position for her that would have benefited any change you have in mind. Not a compassionate thing to do to someone who has given so much to this Theater. Read moreMy wife and I went to go see the movie thug Life and come to find out they're not just an old school movie theater they are also a live theater that plays a bunch of entertaining events every week and there's something to do everyday. It is a great place to either take your family or it's a bars open a place to go with your spouse or friends for a night and just relax. The strand is set in a 1960s 1970s theme with an opera theatre style seating. I would highly recommend sitting in the balcony where it is easier to see everything and it is a lot easier to get to anything else but please be warned it is not handicap accessible to get the balcony you may need extra assistance getting in as to the main platform...

My ears weren't assaulted by the cranked up dolby surround sound that plagues most commercial theaters & the commercials were not twenty endless mins of drivel. The only drawback as a vegan they use real butter on their popcorn but that might be a draw for most folks. The parking is mostly offstreet so make sure to leave time to find a space esp in the summer season. Rockland has a few public lots available & the town itself is very...
