This is going to be long, so settle in.... I, for 2 years, have been researching chainsaws. We bought some property in KY and well.... A girl needs a chainsaw.... I found online that Ace has a pretty good selection. I went into the one on Payne, where I was told, " If you need a saw, you have to go to the Suburban Ace and go to the small engine shop. " So off I went. Walked downstairs, and Bill was with another customer, so I fiddled. Picking up one after the other.. a young kid came down and asked if I needed help. I told him I was in the market for a chainsaw, and he said, "Hold on, I'll go get someone who knows... " This gentlemen walked down, pretty buff dude, muscles galore.... first impressions, right! I was so amazed by his kindness, gratitude, and overall willingness to share his knowledge with me. I really can be a very annoying customer and he didn't mind a bit ( at least he didn't make me feel like he minded) so we talked saws for probably 25-30 minutes while Bill finished up. We had picked out the Stihl 211. . Bill gets done with his customer and then says ( he had seen other dude show me how to start it). Let's see how easy that is for you to start it.... dang.. it was rough... I just couldn't be fluid about it.. He said, "Give me a minute. " He grabbed the next model 211 CE and went in back, gassed her up and it's like he just knew I was going to take it, he started that baby up in the back and i just hollered... woohoooo! So he shut it off and brought her back out to me. Said try this one... bam! Just like butter.. no hesitation at all... I'm sold... But then Bill spent probably the next 30 minutes just teaching me. Teaching me so gently, so matter of fact, exactly how I believe he would have taught his own daughter! I just can't say enough about this experience. I made the right choice, 1. By going to Ace 2. Making the acquaintance of Bill and the muscle guy ( never got his name) and 3. For buying a Stihl 211ce! I'm blessed, I'm grateful and I happy to have purchased such a great machine! God bless and Happy...
Read moreI've shopped at this store for over five years. In the last few years, it's been disappointing. I've called several times requesting an item, only to be put on hold and disconnected at least 3 times and then treated disrespectfully. Anytime I've called, the customer service has been rude. In addition, there is no communication that anyone is interested in helping the customer- especially the customers of color. The owner Mike, bragged to me that he voted for Donald Trump which I feel was irrelevant and gratuitous. In addition, he bragged about having to fire half of the staff because they were not working out. As a customer, I do not need to know this. He has also referred to the movement, "Black Lives Matter," as people making trouble. It concerns me that he is so comfortable putting down people of color. Finally, he bragged about firing one of his Mexican employees, yet he never refers to White employees by race. I spoke with him directly about concerns that I had and left my phone number the last time I was mistreated by his assistant manager but never received a phone call back. His open bigoted remarks are inappropriate and disappointing. What's even more upsetting are ways that he openly references people of color with customers. I am happy to drive further for less racially discriminatory services. One last note- employees openly talk negatively about one another in the presence of customers. Professional development of some kind needs to occur, because basic respect for one another is...
Read moreI like shopping smaller neighborhood stores. Granted this is metro chain. They typically have everything I need. But do not carry the variety of items found in big box stores. They tend to carry the odd things you are looking for and it is amazing how much fits in this relatively small space. Don't expect a women's opinion on anything, but the guys are fairly polite, if a bit condescending at times. I went in to buy a snowblower which I had researched carefully. I went in to check what they had and found they carried the make and model I wanted, at a reasonable price. The gentleman started in on a lecture and questions about what I actually wanted. I told him I know what I want and need and this was it. He tried several times to clarify what I really needed. I finally just rattled off the features that made this model my best choice and he either got it it just gave up. Pretty sure if I had a Y chromosome I wouldn't need to go through this song and dance. When I returned with my other car to pick it up, a different guy started in on the same routine. I just told him to save his breath, I'd already paid for it, I just needed to pick it up. He then went into super helpful dad mode explaining how to start it and maintain it, which I already knew. But shutting him up seemed more work. So I just thanked him for confirming what I...
