I was a happy customer for the past 17 years, however, for the past 6 months, I have had very, very, poor customer service at the check out counter. The cashier, who appears to also serve as a trainer/manager, is extremely unprofessional, speaks brashly, and behaves aggressively towards customers. This is the last person who should be training others, as they are always the most poorly behaved. Receipt info provided below for corporate office review.
My last visit to Meijer, was an absolute disgrace, the trainer/manager was standing by the counter discussing extraneous topics with the newer cashier, and bagger, while my husband, and I, were being checked out. We were not greeted, and for most of the check out process were ignored, until the cashier asked if we had Mperks. I realized at that point that the poor behavior that the trainer/manager had over the past 6 months was now started to bleed over into the behavior of new employees. We were not addressed again, until the trainer/manager barked an order at my husband, then bent over the counter with an exhausted attitude, and continued the conversation with the other workers.
The behavior reminded me of why I moved away from Chicago, and relocated to NWI. For 17 years I enjoyed the friendly staff, fresh produce, and clean well stocked store. For the last 6 months we keep interacting with this rude worker, who's attitude is being replicated, and this negativity overshadows the good things about the store.
I am a resident, and an investor in NWI, and I typically choose, where to invest by visiting the largest grocery store in the area, since they tell a lot about the community, and are one of the important draws for home buyers. I sincerely hope upper management looks into this, because if I were not invested in this area, but was considering it, this experience would make me choose another area. Honestly the progression of her poor behavior and how it is becoming a norm, is making me review my next investment with careful scrutiny, and this is not good for, residents, local investors, or Meijer. Please review the video footage that matches my receipt information, so we can all get back to experiencing the Meijer that values it's customers.

Please note the checkout was not provided by the trainer/cashier. The checkout was provided by a worker who I have never seen before, so I believe this is a newer worker on the register. The trainer/cashier, that we are discussing is the person who is standing near the counter talking, and not...
Read moreMeijer is definitely one of my favorite budget-friendly chains to shop. If you are shopping without the MPerks app, you are doing yourself a disservice unless you're not concerned with plebian matters such as 'budgeting'. Alas, I like to double down with other rebate apps, such as Ibotta. For minimal effort, you can really save in the long term.
They have some decent sales on the regular, and one of the big pulls is of course the 'Pick 5, mix and match sale'. It's quite easy to find deals on fresh meats, and perusing the marked downs is a great way to keep my freezer packed.
My rating is a reflection of this location in particular. I believe it's sitting on prime real estate, and therefore sees a ton of traffic. The place is always packed, and the parking lot is often a mess, especially in winter. The pharmacy drive-thru is awkwardly placed right at the front of the building where there's constant traffic, always backed up, which contributes to the congestion. We know how impatient folks are around here, and instead of pulling forward out of the pharmacy line, I see most people can't be bothered to do that. They can't be inconvenienced any more than necessary, so they inconvenience everyone else by trying to do a 180 out of the tiny drive-thru, jamming every lane up.
The cashiers are usually pleasant enough, but then floor workers and stockers obviously hate their lives. That's fine, I would too if I had to spend all day in that hell hole of babies squalling constantly, unruly children running around uninterested parents, and just plain rude people. The store is usually pretty clean, though, surprisingly.
It's quite expected and the norm now that the experience is something akin to a feeding frenzy. The shelves are oft barren, entire racks of items sold out, even running completely out of some fresh meat items. It's like a natural disaster is looming and the shelves have been picked clean by a horde of panicked public. Nope, that's just normal.
In closing, I do enjoy shopping at Meijer for the good prices, handy coupon app, and item selection (when stocks permit). I just think this area is far too congested to keep everything tip-top, but I believe they do the...
Read moreWow, just wow. I'll start by saying I live 4 minutes away, Googled closing time, knew I had 15 minutes to grab ONE thing that could not wait. I walked up to the store which had 2 doors propped open and 2 not. 3 employees (which later learned, are the managers) smoking sitting on garbage cans. Before I even got to the divide between parking lot pavement and meijer cement entry. The heavy set man with a beard says, "you walk through the doors that are open"! A child would realize that, followed with "you have 15 minutes" was then welcomed so professionally and kindly by Tavara. I would never have imagined she was not the manager and the ones outside were. I grabbed my item, which I wish I had gotten his name he was so eager to help, regardless of the time. He was stocking in the dog treat area. He was awesome. The normal speech, store closing intercom came on. It was for sure the heavy set man. So unwelcoming. I felt he would have saved timed just telling us shoppers that we need to get out now, and how dare we come in this late. Absolutely apalling. I checked out, and was again greeted by Tavara who thanked me for coming and wished me a good day. As i walked out the same employees "managers" were now sitting betwwen the double doors on those garbages as guards for everyone to leave. Now, i am a manager as well. I take pride in my job and what I represent. That is why I was made a manager. Walked to my car. Parking lot full of carts, garbage. While they sat around unwelcoming. There will be times I have to come to meijers, because it is so close. But I will definitely avoid at all costs. Not sure why someone like Tavara had been over looked as someone to represent the store. She shows professionalism and care. I never write reviews are complain, but this was...
