Art Hill has the worst service department of any dealer I have ever experienced. In August I purchased a Blue Oval certified 2020 Escape. There was a slight musk to the car when I got in. Didn't think anything of it as it has been raining for a few days. Take it for a spin, brakes are grinding, to be expected after a rain and a sitting car. Well fast forward to September 19 the brakes are not better and the smell is getting worse. I check the cabin filter. BLACK so I call Gregory Lollis my sales person to tell him that the car shakes when driving due to the horrible state of the brakes. He laughs at me and asks if I got a warranty. The Greg proceeds to tell me to call the service department and complain. So I do. Rosa from service tells me that the car was checked out and that there is "tickets for the filters" but I can come in on Monday the 25th. When I arrive on Monday there are so many people in the service area that I had to leave as it was getting over and hour just for me to be acknowledged. I head home and the car sits. I have put about 300 miles on the car as it it so bad to drive. Well I take a shot and drive it to Dekalb, Il, that was a huge mistake. I thought that getting it on the highway to get the brakes "aired out" would help. Most times this helps with the grinding. I had to turn around as the car shook so bad and the brakes where impossible to stop with any speed. So I call again and drop the car off with Marko. I tell them my complains. Marko tells me the cabin filter was "ticked" out with the car and is in disbelieve over my photo (see attached). I tell him the ford pass app keeps telling me that the oil need to be changed and there has been warnings on the dash. Mind you the oil life was at 70% when I got the car.
Well I go in today 10/13 to get the car. They charged me for a oil change. Remember I have only owned this so called "Certified" escape for 2 months. Yet, I Have to pay for an oil change? Miles purchased 23553 when it was at ford I left it with 24153 EXACTLY 600 miles and it needs an oil change? When I brought up my complaints Rosa stated that I requested an oil change, it was on the paperwork and I needed to Pay. I did not, at all. Marko called me on Wednesday 10/11 to ensure me that the engine air filter, oil and oil filter where all changed when the car was checked in before being sold and the cabin filter was not. He also stated the techs cannot find where the shaking is coming from. They didn't want to throw parts at it. Yet the breaks where very loud. They feel the shaking and are going to get it taken care of I thought they where. I was wrong.
I go to get my car on 10/13 I got a text that it was done. The paper work said the techs cant find a shake? Marko called to lie to me. He told me they are looking into it, total lie. When I called back no one cared. This dealer is an absolute disaster. The care is WORSE then when I brought it to them. Drove down 30 for 10 min the car shakes and brakes are shuttering. If a tech cant feel that, please get them away from any tools or cars, that is an issue. Now I have to deal with the headache of taking the car to a legit Ford dealer to get my "Certified" car in a drivable state. I made a complaint with the ford motor company. Lets see if that gets me anywhere.
I hope this helps anyone in a time where interest rates are crazy high and its super hard to find a dealer who will not screw you. I have purchased a lot of cars, and have owned many brands. I have never had an experience like this. Do yourself a favor and pick ANY other ford dealer to take care of your cars Art...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreArt Hill Ford Service Division needs to do a better job in their repairs on vehicles. My elderly Father who is a long time customer of Art Hill Ford for his 2006 Ford Escape. We requested a diagnostic service for a brake issue. Brake fluid was draining out vehicle each time we put fluid in resvoir and brakes were going to the floor. Art Hill service stated the car needed a full brake line due to corrosion and rust on brake lines. The vechicle is not driven much due to his age. The car repair would cost $1500. The car was returned after repairs and it would not start . Battery was dead. The brakes were still to the floor and you can hear the air in brakes. Called and stated problem. Vehicle was returned. Another $167.00. Even though work summary said they tested battery. The check on brake fluid levels or checking why the the brakes were still to the floor. We were told to put brake fluid in reservoir which we did. Of course, the work summary we received stated, " brake fluid flushed from system, bleed brake lines and refill done" Cost for labor $179.94 on repair summary sheet. My Father made attempt to test drive the vehicle after 2nd return. The vehicle brakes completely fail again. Brakes went all the way down again even after putting brake fluid in vehicle. Art Hill Ford Service should do a better job in repair and testing of vehicles before they are returned to owner. The repairs on this vehicle was not properly completed and the service dept did not bleed the brake lines, that's why you can hear the air when pushing on the brakes. Also, anyone knows you should fill the brake reservoir up to maximum level as required. The reservoir was bone dry. Shame on Art Hill Ford to charge this amount of money and the repair job is incomplete. If new parts are faulty. It's not the owner's problem. It's the dealerships problem for using cheap parts and not test driving car for maximum performance. The Service Manager, Chipade excuses that vehicle is old (2006) . That is no excuse when you place new parts on vehicle. There is cars older that run very well when proper parts are installed. I found the Service Mgr Chris to be very condescending and full of excuses. He stated that if they found it was no fault of their own, we would be responsible for towing charges, repairs and labor. How could this be when the vehicle was just returned and it's only been a week. Upon return of the car Marco told my husband that they only suppose to fill the boot of the brake system. Well, if you charge $1500 for a brake repair job, I would think a reputable shop would fill the boot and the brake reservoir. A car without brakes is a dangerous vehicle and I would think that Art Hill Ford would want to do a complete and safe service for their customers. We hope to resolve this issue with fairness, quality service repair and good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreif you want to be told āitās not our fault you canāt afford a new vehicle and had to buy a used oneā then youāre in the right place. šš¼ in early 2021, we bought a 2018 Ford Escape SEL. we paid almost $2,000 extra out of pocket due to our credit union not covering the full vehicle due to its high mileage. everything was fine until about 5 months later, we got āengine failureā on the Dan Ryan. what we assumed was a transmission problem was confirmed. we were informed that our engine block was recalled and that the transmission should be warranty. we get the vehicle back a few weeks later, the vehicle transmission fails again. when we bring this up, they tell us they in fact did NOT fix the transmission but what was recalled and that the transmission was not under warranty. after going back and forth with the dealership themselves, they gave us a phone number for Fordās financial assistance. we got hung up on multiple times by Ford to the point where we had to have the service advisor call herself. she then told us we were denied for āhigh mileageā. the service was quoted to be about $8,000. we filed through the attorney state general about the lemon law. after this, we recieved an email though the attorney general saying ford will offer to pay all but $2,000. after 5 months (due to back order on the parts) we got our vehicle in march 2023. Just for it to sign āengine failureā again on I-80. we were told this was because a serpine belt snapped. after fighting back and forth with them, they agreed to cover the cost of that fix. we get the vehicle back now in april 2023. NOW, just two weeks ago when driving we got āengine failureā on our truck and smoke coming out of the exhaust. on the way to ford the following day, the truck signs ātransmission failureā again, the temperature gauge shot up, and the rpms shot up to about 600s when i was only going 30 mph. we bring it in and were told we should have a diagnostic done within the next day. we are told our concerns were all confirmed by the mechanics but they couldnāt figure out what the problem was so they had to send the vehicle up to āsuperior mechanicsā. they also could not figure out what was wrong so we were told they had to bring actual ford engineers to try and diagnose the problem. now we are told it is the turbos for the vehicle and that it will be about $3,000 to fix. none of it is under warranty. we, again, got denied for financial assistance. weāve had this vehicle for 3 years but only been able to drive it for a little over one complete year. we only came here because we were advised from our peers that they are amazing with veterans and law enforcement. from being accused of harassing the service center to being told āitās not Fordās responsibility to fix your financesā because we cannot afford a $3,000 service, i would not recommend Ford or...
