Recently my hard drive crashed and so I visited this Staples while I was shopping around the area for new hard drives. Normally I would shop online but I needed to purchase and install a new hard drive immediately so I could get back to work. I was interested in upgrading to a solid state drive (SSD) but as it is a newer technology (kind of), not many stores in the area carry a good selection. This store not only had no solid state drives displayed, they had a very poor selection of traditional hard drives. After inquiring with an employee, he showed me one that they kept in the storage room (I don't know why they hid it there, because I nearly walked out thinking that they had none). He told me it would work for my laptop and I asked him to hang on to it while I continued shopping around the area.
After a few more stressful hours, I returned to Staples with two Staples gift cards equaling the amount I needed for my new drive. They had convinced me that they were the only store in the area that had a SSD that would work in my laptop. Upon returning, I found the employee that I had spoken with was busy so I spoke with the Assistant Manager. When he pulled out the SSD that had earlier been offered to me he told me, to my (horrible) surprise, that it would not work for my laptop. I told him, VERY SPECIFICALLY, what type of laptop I had. I included: year, model number, the current version of my operating system, you name it. He looked in the computer and told me that they didn't have any hard drives in stock that would fit in my laptop, but he could order one and it would arrive in two days. Unfortunately however, he told me that the SSD hard drives available were all out of my price range, so I ordered a traditional drive and left the store thinking that I would be back up and running in two days. When I returned home, I looked up the model number of the hard drive that he had ordered for me, and without even reading more than the name of the hard drive, I learned that it would not only not fit into my specific laptop...it wouldn't fit into ANY laptop. He had ordered a desktop hard drive, designed to only fit in desktop computers.
Two days later my new hard drive arrived, and of course I already know that it will not fit. Now I am stuck with a useless hard drive or store credit. I have since ordered a very reasonably priced SSD online and had it installed in my laptop in minutes. I have never been so disgusted with a shopping experience in my life. Staples slogan is "easy," but they not only cost me $200, they prolonged the repair of my computer, and made the entire situation unbelievably more stressful. Do...
Read moreI called to make sure they would take a large counter top copier printer and they said yes. We loaded it up and drove there. I went inside and asked about recycling and they pointed to a cart. I asked for a flat dolly because it's large and I didn't want to break the cart. Was told oh, I don't think we have one out. Asked if I could take the cart, told yes. At this point twice I've said it's a large unit. We finally get it unloaded out of the cart, on the cart and about to enter the store and some guy comes running out saying we don't take Floor Units. I said well, it's not a floor unit, it's a countertop one and I already called and asked. He goes "yeah, it's a countertop" in a sarcastic tone and "You add trays under it."
Actually, no. It doesn't have that ability. It is large but that's why I called before lugging this heavy thing out of the basement. Someone has a communication issue there just not sure if it's sarcastic guy outside or person that answered the phone.
Needless to say, we're currently looking into other suppliers for our...
Read moreI have visited this Staples twice, to print a few documents from a USB. Their self-serve copiers (I tried multiple) would not read my USB. There is nothing wrong with the USB. The first time, an employee helped me behind the counter and of course was able to open the files without issue and print from there. Foolishly I came back again today thinking that maybe the problem had been solved. Nope. The employee this time was somewhat snarky with me, making me walk through the steps with her as if it was user error, even though I told her it was doing the same thing as last time. Of course it didn't work. I asked if they could print the pages for me (literally like 4 pages, taking less than 2 minutes) and she said "the best I can do for you is two hours". So, because their machines are useless, I have to wait 2 hours to get a few pages printed? No thanks. I walked out, went down the road to Fed Ex who had no trouble with their self-serve machines, printed my documents within minutes and was on my way. I will not be back to this Staples for...
