I did a beginners class with friends. 2 of us had never tried pottery and 1 had taken a multi week class recently. The staff wasn't very friendly and they were very quick with directions. I was struggling and even asked for help and she did not help. It was my first time so I was excited to try. I hadn't been out of the house for a week due to a medical issue either so I was looking forward to it for multiple reasons. I figured it being a class there would be more help rather than someone just quickly saying directions out loud. I can read instructions from a paper, the point of a beginner in person experience is to get more help. I was struggling and started to feel more in pain so I just left after 30 min. It wasn't worth it to feel bad and frustrated. Honestly this experience made me not interested in trying pottery again. Which is disappointing bc im a crafty person and love doing things like this usually. I think the person leading the class was just really off putting and it felt like they did not want to be doing this. Also it would have been really helpful to get more before information. I may have missed it but didn't see anything saying what to wear or bring or that longer nails would maybe be an issue. My friend told us it gets messy so don't wear anything you care about. They also do wheel pretty and hand sculpting. There were more people in the class than wheels and some had to go to hand sculpting. I guess they switch half way through. Maybe there were too many people and that's why it felt more rushed. Just trying to get the most money they can in at one time I guess rather than being able to take time and actually teach. If I ever try it again I would 100% go...
Read moreJust came back from a fantastic “into to wheel” class with Emily. She’s an amazing instructor, engaging and encouraging. As a newbie to pottery, the action is a lot more difficult than it looks, the posture, pressure and speed of the wheel… Emily made it supper relaxing and fun. Although I’m right handed, but it felt more natural to use my left hand as the anchor when on the spinning wheel, with this dilemma Emily definitely encouraged me to embrace my self-difference and gave me great advice. She’s also very knowledgeable and gave all the incredible tips and tools I needed to create the pieces that represent “ME”. The studio is spacious and nice vibes! This will be my new hobby and I can’t wait to see after the pieces are fired and excited to the...
Read moreWe had a wonderful time at the Couples Wheel Throwing class. The class was a present from my sister, and I am glad we were booked for two wheels not just one, as it gave both of us an opportunity to try out our creativity. There was also an option for couples to share a wheel. Emily was wonderful, showing everyone the basics, helping many in the class (all first timers) get their clay centered and giving us lots of helpful technique tips. And she was not joking when she said you will feel the class the next day (sore arms and palms!). At the end of the class you can mark your creation and leave it on a rack (Emily/her team will fire), and come back after around two weeks to pick it up. We will be back for another class...
