First and foremost the staff at the hotel are super friendly and super helpful. They were the best part of the stay. The beds were fine, most of us slept well most of the time. The air conditioning was nice and cold (considering the daily temperatures were over 100 every day, this was really appreciated).
The free breakfast was also very good and filling, though there were some days that things were a bit odd (like one day there was thick white goop at the bottom of the container that held the cartons of milk - maybe one of the cartons had spilled - it got goop on every single carton, you had to wipe off this slimy stuff that was the consistency of pancake batter after you picked out your milk. There did not seem to be any attempt to remove the container and replace it with something not swimming in goop, and then another day the batter dispenser for the make your own waffles was leaking batter all over the place and making a mess of the area).
The carpet in the stairway is absolutely filthy and looks like it needs a week's worth of deep steam cleaning. The carpets in the hallways were not as bad, they look like they get cleaned more often.
Our suite was clean and inviting, but upon further inspection - the main bedroom in our suite had a giant hole in the wall with wires poking out where it looked like someone ripped out the smoke detector. The other bedroom, there was no knob on the closet door - there was just a screw sticking out. If you wanted to open the closet you had to grab the screw. In the same bedroom the facing on one of the drawers on the cabinet under the sink had partially come off. Our sofa had a tear in one of the seat cushions, right along the seam, and it was obvious from damage on the couch and chair that a cat had stayed in the room before. The TV in the second bedroom was broken and unplugged. We plugged it in and it would power on but it wouldn't show any channels, and it wouldn't power off unless you unplugged it. We tried both the remote and the buttons on the side of the tv itself and nothing worked. The whole impression the hotel gave brought to mind a phrase usually used for horses: "ridden hard and put up wet." You could see that at one time it might have been really nice, but it just seems like there is not enough staff so a lot of things are allowed to slide.
The Staybridge Suites chain promises a social hour with "small bites" and beer and wine some days of the week. The one day we tried it the so called "small bites" consisted of a vat of Texas Chili and a vat of mashed potatoes. This was not what we were expecting and kind of the last thing we wanted to eat when it was 102 outside. I will say that many other patrons of the hotel appeared to be construction or utility workers staying in the hotel due to working in the area, and they seemed to appreciate the offering, it just wasn't for us.
The hotel does have a laundry room and provides the washers and dryers for free, you just have to provide the detergent. We really appreciated this feature.
In terms of location, it is OK - there is easy access to the interstate and it is quite close to a shopping center with a grocery store and some restaurants so there are other options for food if what is on offer at the hotel does not satisfy.
In sum, it is a perfectly adequate hotel if you just need a clean place to rest your head while traveling, and don't care too much about...

I travel once a month for work and have tried many hotels and brands out there. Generally the Staybridge Suites has been a consistent quality experience.
Staybridge Suites Round Rock has changed that opinion for me. Do not be fooled by the pictures they put up online; this hotel is OLD and desperately needs updating.
The hallways and common rooms are very warm and a little muggy. This is not acceptable for Texas where it's hot and muggy 24/7. When we walk into a hotel we expect it to be fresh. The carpets in the hallways also need a deep, DEEP clean or just to be ripped up and replaced all together. 3/10
The dining area television is on its last leg. It's honestly pathetic how Staybridge Suites Round Rock has failed to replace this television. A consistent blue hue is present on the TV. Who wants to bet when the TV does die the management of this property will just leave it there? 3/10
Furthermore every chair in the dining area has stains. I understand people spill food but when every chair has stains that are years old, then the best time to replace them was yesterday, the second best time to replace them is today. 2/10
The breakfast was... Serviceable, I guess. The eggs were hotel eggs, bacon is bacon, but the potatoes were reheated tater tots. Dried out and hard. There are some Staybridge Suites out there where the employee in charge of the kitchen actually makes something. One Staybridge the kitchen staff made migas con huevo with what they had. Why aren't you trying, Round Rock? 2/10
The room, just like the rest of the hotel is showing its age. The door latch is one you'd expect to find at your local apartment complex, and following that same vein you can tell management has had a painting company slather 10 coats of paint on the doors to hide damage. 3/10
Speaking of damage, on the separating door for the King suite the handle of the door is almost coming off and on the backside the latch is missing a screw. What's the cost of a screw, 5¢ at Home Depot? 1/10
Lastly we come to the gym. One thing I like about Staybridge Suites is the gyms typically have a pulley machine for expanded exercises outside of just dumbbells. Staybridge Suites Round Rock does not. All they have are a few cardio machines and some dumbbells. The room is also poorly lit (unlike the picture). I suppose going for a run on the treadmill in the poor lighting you can imagine yourself running for your life at your local serial killers house. 2/10
All in all, this is a very mid Staybridge Suites. In future I will not return to this location until the management changes and the hotel gets some much needed upgrades. There's another Staybridge Suites 15m down the road. Go there instead.
To the management of Staybridge Suites Round Rock: out of 70 possible points you have received 16. 22%. If a failing grade is acceptable, keep doing what you're doing. If being a failure isn't acceptable, it's time you look at the reviews you get and actually make plans to update...
Read moreFor me one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed at. Ive had to stay at this hotel due to working out of town. I was there for bout 2 months . Also worked night shift. Due to that they there answer to everything was we’ll check or take care of it. I would leave at 3pm would come back nothing was ever done!! From the beginning the room looked like it had its problems floor boards and the restroom area looked in bad shape smelled as if there was mold, and looked like the wall paper and floor boards were expanded , dead crickets, and alive all through the room toilet didn’t have a cover and all the restroom area was wet, as if there was a flood. come to find out days of staying there the room had leaks all in the restroom ceiling ,walls and closet area. Told them they did nothing.Damaged a lot of my personal belongings due to more floods in the sink area, all of it was wet I immediately told reception multiple times they did nothing until it happened for a third time . They finally decided to give him a new room. mind you both rooms I stayed in where never cleaned I get not everyday but also never?! In the 2 months of being there they only did it 3 times!! I had to take out my own trash every times. Told reception and their response was it’s done on request. Well I would tell them on request would go to work. Come back from my shift at 3 AM and everything was still the same. Nothing was ever done . Only time things were done was when my wife came to stay on two separate occasions over the weekend and she cleaned the room when the hotel should be doing their job. There was cleaning ladies up and down the hallways, but never once did my room. To be honest never looked like they did anything caught them while I walked by several times on my way to work, sitting down chatting on the rooms couches. You would think they would get things done faster because they worked in twos. Once I heard a lady vacuuming the hallway politely asked her if she could take out my trash she looked at me as if I was weird, shook her head yes and immediately stopped vacuuming and walked the other way never once saw her again and had to take out my trash again. Reception would always say we’ll get somebody on it, but never would see anybody come to my room. As if it couldn’t get any worse, my truck was also broken into. Police came and everything, wasn’t notified until I looked out my window and saw my window broken. Went out there to check it out. Unfortunately they stole a gun I had in there went to reception and let them know and they’re response was yeah we know. police came already never once did they think of telling me until I woke up and told them Wouldn’t you think if their customers were staying in their hotel it would be appropriate to let them know that my vehicle was broken into on their property! Was a very ugly and horrible...
