“Mission Ready: Why Trek Royal Oak & the FX 3 Are a Perfect Pair”
I don’t normally write reviews, but after the experience I had at Trek Royal Oak and the performance I’ve been getting from my Trek FX 3 Disc, I have to break radio silence. These folks don’t just sell bikes — they outfit riders for greatness.
From the moment I stepped into the Royal Oak shop, I felt like I was being fitted not just for a product, but for a purpose. The staff didn’t rush me, didn’t push the high-end hard sell — they listened. They asked questions. They helped me narrow in on what kind of riding I was doing, where I wanted to go, and how my gear needed to perform. They understood the mission.
And then came Echo Gambit FX — my name for the Trek FX 3 Disc I rolled out with. It’s not just a bike. It’s a tactical vehicle. The lightweight aluminum frame paired with the carbon fork gives me a ride that’s fast, agile, and smooth across everything from paved streets to crushed limestone trails. Whether I’m gliding through the West Bloomfield Trail in stealth mode or breaking new distance records, the FX 3 responds like a seasoned partner.
Let’s talk comfort — the ergonomic grips, the IsoZone handlebars, the Bontrager H2 tires — it all works in harmony. I’ve now logged multiple long-distance rides, including a personal record-breaking 31.37-mile run in just over 2 hours, and the FX 3 didn’t flinch. No gear shifting hiccups, no saddle fatigue, no lag. Just performance.
Trek Royal Oak made sure the fit was dialed in. They answered every question, adjusted components with precision, and respected the fact that I’m serious about riding — even if I’m winging it with no pressure. They made it clear: when you leave with a Trek, you leave with backup.
In a sea of disposable online deals and box-store clunkers, Trek Royal Oak is a beacon of real service, real product knowledge, and real community. And the FX 3? It’s not just a bike I own. It’s a machine I trust.
Would I recommend Trek Royal Oak? Without hesitation. Would I trust the FX 3 for the 40-mile frontier and beyond? Absolutely.
This bike was built for riders who go the distance. And I plan to.

Read moreI came here a few weeks ago to have my trek bike repaired. I dropped the bike off to have the brake line, chain and brake pads replaced. I was originally told that this repair would take two weeks. I call back and cancel the service for the chain and brake pads because I figured I could do it myself. So I am told that the bike should be ready for pickup on 08/22. This is a Thursday. I call on Friday and tell them to just do the brakes and chain because something came up and I wouldnt have the time to do it myself. I understand. Slightly annoying that I changed my mind. Now after including these new repairs I am told that the bike is ready for pickup on the 23rd because it should only take an hour for the work. I tell the rep "okay that's fine. I'll come by the 25th to get it at noon". This is two days after I was told that the bike would be ready for the brake line, chain and brakes. I come on the 25th at noon. The guy tells me they havent even begun the work on the chain or brake pads. He tells me to come back in an hour and a half. I call back and check in an hour and a half and they tell me the service still hasnt been done. By now my plans have been ruined for the weekend and I am stuck waiting around for their lazy repairmen to fix my bike that they have been late on three times by now. I go in and tell the worker the issue I had with the service and I am responded with "what do you want me to tell you? I'm sorry?". Not only did I receive terrible customer service and a huge waste of time, I couldn't even get a proper apology. I will never ever come here in my life ever. I had planned to purchase bikes for my brothers (I have three) and I will be taking my money elsewhere. The older gentlemen who serviced my bike was rude and unfriendly and I would not ever recommend this bike shop to anyone (unless you want to wait days later than what your repair was...
Read moreI purchased a Marlin 7 online five days ago. I immediately recieved an email acknowledging my purchase. I send a reply back to the email address that was listed if I had any questions. I received an undeliverable message back. I contacted Trek beleiving I had purchased from them. After speaking with the Trek representative he wanted to see my email believing I had purchased from a fraudulent site. By the end of the phone call he was fairly certain I made a legitimate purchase from American Cycle and Fitness. I called the Royal Oak store and no one answered. I left a message. Knowing the bike stores had mostly closed down except for repair I figured I'd wait a day to get a replay back. No reply came. I then called the Walled Lake store and spoke with an employee named Joe. He was quite helpful confirming that my bike was purchased through ACF and that it was at Royal Oak. I called Royal Oak back and still no one picked up. I waited another day and called back. Again no one picked up so I again left a message. Another day has passed and no one has returned my call. I understand times are a bit different right now but ignoring customers who just purchased a bike and not making a simple phone call to them of how, when, and where to pick up their purchase is unacceptable and unprofessional, especially after five days. I'm beginning to wonder if I did make a fraudulent purchase. A friend of mine recently purchased a bike through ACF and picked it up and he hasn't had these problems. So, I'd just like to know when, if ever, I'm going to be able to pick up the bike I purchased? Just a simple call back...
