I don't go into St. Augustine too often from Palm Coast, but I always wanted to visit the store since it is in reality the only real comic book store in St. Augustine/St. Johns County that I am aware of. Another reason I wanted to visit the store is each Local Comic Store/Direct Market store is different in their own way. I have a Local Comic Store near my house, so I don't always venture into other Stores outside of my area.
One thing I wanted to point out that the store is still in the same building as before, but they moved their storefront a few units down to the leftish side of the building. Two I noticed when I went inside the store that they don't have regular books/paperbacks anymore (this makes sense, the store is middle of being renamed to Jack's Comics & More where to me it is just a comic book focused store, which is great for me but if you are into regular books, you may not want to visit here going forward if that's your focus).
Store itself isn't huge, but the selection is quite solid and I thought it was easy enough to find stuff. I aim more for trades and limited single floppies for my collection. I like if you are only into trades, their selection is quite good and separated by Indie Publishers/Manga/DC/Marvel. They even have other interesting comics in trade format near the front of the store (mostly children stuff, but I saw some French Bande dessinée English translated here and there). They even have complete sets of some trades which make things so much easier. I did saw that they have Tabletop books, so if you play Tabletop they do have a section for it I believe. Their floppy collection isn't big as other stores in the area, but I reviewed some of the items and I thought pricing was fair and easy to find stuff. I am not the expert on floppy pricing thou. I do know that they get new weekly releases every Wednesday (some stores up in Jacksonville no longer get weekly releases but only buying Trades or Back Issues).
The store owner (which is Jack if you haven't guessed) was nice to me when he talked to me for a few minutes. I purchased a trade that I was looking for and Jack sold me on a limited floppy series that he had on the wall behind him for a solid price.
I'll be back when I am in the area during store hours. I like the selection and if you are willing to explore, you can find some interesting things that...
Read moreThis place might be small, but it’s mighty!!!! There is a huge selection of comics and quite a few books, many in the science-fiction genre. Jack is level EXPERT when it comes to comics and explains characters/plots with a great deal of expertise and he’s a great storyteller as well. I wasn’t super involved in the world of comics, at least not until Jack started telling me about ones with really cool plot lines and I actually ended up leaving the store with items I didn’t even know existed. I had no idea there were so many great dark/horror comics out there!!! The prices are fair and I’ve found great deals on used paperbacks. I’m looking forward to returning (I live only 3 miles away). I highly recommend this...
