The first time I went by the store they were closed for a private fitting. Since I had been looking forward to coming in to this shop specifically from Missouri, I was kind of miffed. After going into another shop and speaking with a local, who coincidentally used to work there, I was urged to give them a second chance by her. I'm very glad I did, they go above and beyond and they were very nice and helpful, willing to accommodate on prices for a "package deal" type pricing when buying more than one high end piece. They got me dressed up head to toe in an outfit that fit with my hat, but for my first day in town, I wanted to pace my spending, but it did look fantastic and the corset top looked great. For those complaining of the prices, the things that are expensive in this store are hand made. I personally watched a leather belt being put together by the wonderful woman he has doing his leatherwork and some of his sewing, who is super awesome as well. The skirts are made at the store as well. I'm terrible at names (I should've written this sooner!), otherwise I would be more specific! Overall, i know i know, but if they're closed, yeah give them a second chance, you'll be pleasantly surprised and I do recommend.

Visit this store as soon as you arrive in town, to be sure to get the best bang for your buck. 'Invest' in clothing that you will photograph from when you are in the store, on Saint Augustine Historic Streets and throughout your life, as you wear them again and again at special events, etc. 'You' can be a 'Star' and a part of history, just as it was centuries ago. This store makes it happen & at affordable prices, too. Nowhere else can you, be outfitted as a 'Real Live Souvenir', in one of the Nation's oldest cities.

Drove 4 hours out of the way so we could check this place out only to find out it was closed and NOT open according to the times posted on Google. We'll be back this weekend, so will update review once we actually get in the place to check it out. Took a picture of the posted times so hopefully i can update the times on Google maps here and others don't get hit with that too.

The people talking bad about this man and his business probably did something to be treated that way. This man is one of the nicest, kind hearted, fairest, sweetest people I know. My husband liked a shirt he was personally wearing, he told my husband he doesn’t have any for sale any more, AND he went in and changed and literally gave him the shirt off his back FOR FREE because he had none to sell. He and his krew have hosted several benefits and done so many community fundraising functions I can’t even count them all. OF COURSE he drives his employees to sell what business owner doesn’t?!?! That’s a ridiculous comment too. There is no work ethic here I’ve seen it all employees do is play on their phones, heads down, ignore customers. Not just in this mans store but in quite a few here in Saint Augustine. I’ve been in and out of shops and people don’t even acknowledge I’ve walked in. These people hire you to do a job and if you can’t or don’t do it OR you leave your keys with another employee and walk out then a few days later want your job back and they don’t give it to you because they have already hired someone to cover your spot.... don’t come crying on google maps or have your friends/boyfriend come crying on google maps... GET OVER IT and stop trying to ruin a mans business cause you suck. Sorry for the long...

I absolutely cannot say enough good about them. I'm a tour guide in the city, and my husband picked up a corset for me. Unfortunately it didn't fit, so he called and spoke to the owner. He couldn't have been more gracious! He said to bring it back and they would help me. And he called and informed his employee, because when we came in, she knew exactly who we were and what the problem was. Phyllis proceeded to help me for the next HOUR. I tried on multiple corsets, and she helped me with each and every one, never losing patience, always exceedingly informative and respectful. She found me a gorgeous one and she even went the extra mile and said if I needed help the next day getting it on before my tour, to stop in and she would be there to help lace me. That is beyond helpful and kind, that is the kind of business that makes St. Augustine the amazing city it is. If you need garb, you simply can't do better than The Pirate Store. Thank you so much, pirates. I'm a...
