Patina - Highland Park — Local services in Saint Paul

Normally I love Patina and have spent hundreds of dollars here between gifts, holiday decor, and just-for-fun because they always have the cutest things! However, every time I go to this specific store, they follow me around the entire time and watch my every move. Some of us are just indecisive, not shoplifting. I understand being vigilant but it makes me feel really uncomfortable, especially when there are other people in the store yet I am the only one who employees seem to be constantly watching. If you’re anyone other than a middle-aged white woman with a designer purse and Canada goose jacket, I probably wouldn’t recommend shopping here :( Will most definitely be going to the Selby location or to a different local business in the future. I love Patina stores, but we had a weird experience at this one. We walked in on a Sunday morning, and no staff were behind the desk. We thought it was a little strange but just assumed they were busy elsewhere and started to browse. Then a staff person rushed out from the back, asked how we got into the store, said they were actually closed, then proceeded to hurriedly usher us out of the store. I guess they didn’t officially open for another five minutes, but the door was unlocked and the lights were on, so we of course assumed they were open and we were welcome. We understood unlocking the doors may have been a mistake, but it felt rude to shoo us away like that as if we did something wrong. A wonderful place to find a WIDE variety of gifts for anyone in your family young and old! I love that all (or at least every single one I've picked up to smell) candles are soy based and therefore don't pollute your homes indoor air with petrochemical-based wax vapors and artificial scents. That's huge for me since I am allergic to things like Glade or Febreeze and I love that they offer a natural alternative! The cooking section is always fun to look at and they always have delicious chocolates available too!
