Von Hanson's Meats — Local services in Saint Paul

I came here from Texas and I had a hard time trying to find a meat market. So I finally found this one on Google Maps. I got directions and finally came here. I asked for Fajitas. And they said we don't know what that is. I looked at my Sister in awe. Then I looked at the meat that they had on display and there was no Fajitas in sight. So I looked to my right and I saw a cow picture I looked at all the meats and we found out it was called skirt steak over here. So we asked for skirt steak and the guy behind the counter was very confused still. We asked them for skirt steak again and they said they have some already marinated and seasoned. (so here in Texas there's allot of Hispanics and we like to do every thing homemade.) and we looked at each other laughing. Then we told the guy do you have it unseasoned and they said it was frozen and you would have to wait for it to not be frozen. And we just said never mind and left. Worst experience ever. Worst hamburger in my life. It was purchased at the Von Hanson's Meats barbeque grill tent at Lumen Cristi's Highland Park block party. I felt Iike I had been served the cheapest, nastiest tasting hamburger patty that I've ever had the misfortune of having been served. The meat had an inconsistent texture, with extra hard, extra chewy sections. I've had premium ground sirlion, etc. and this wasn't even close, this stuff was bad. I couldn't even get halfway through it before I threw it away. At first, I thought it may have been like mix of steak pieces and ground beef, but I've had similar meats like that before and actually liked it, but this stuff was different; this stuff was bad. Because I had just been passing through, I was unable to return it and complain, otherwise I would have. I have no complaints with most of their other food items, but save your 6 dollars if you happen to have a craving for a hamburger while at some type of...

We had Von Hanson's cater our wedding, and we couldn't be happier with the whole experience! Food was excellent! Service was excellent!

I also want to make sure to mention that, even though they are primarily a butcher shop, they also provided some great vegetarian options for our friends and family who do not eat meat.
