Extra Space Storage — Local services in Saint Petersburg

Beware if you are a household that needs to store items during a hurricane. The store manager Jose abruptly closed the offices two hours before the posted time without notice that the elevators will be turned off.

I was definitely not the ONLY or LAST person in St.Pete on Wednesday afternoon who needed to get things to higher ground.

Not broken, just turned off 2 hours and 15 mins hours before closing……. He had no empathy for the people who store their items at this facility. Jose was so dismissive and rude I couldn’t believe it. Again the least him and their team could have done was update their hours like they said in an email sent yesterday. State that they are closing at 3:45pm not 6pm with only stairway access till further notice.

It’s really disappointing and shocking that Jose wouldn’t keep the elevators on while they were open on Wednesday.. Instead he just taped up signage and stood at the back doors rudely repeated over and over to us that “you have to use the stairs” when he saw that me and others obviously couldn’t move their appliances or personal items up three flights of stairs.

I was begging Jose in person to keep the elevators running for least 15 mins till 4pm so people could bring items into their units OR go to the office to send out communication like he said that he would.

I hope my house doesn’t get flooded this time :-)

UPDATE we did get 2ft of flooding. All of my stuff I couldn’t lug up three flights of stairs with was ruined + our three appliances...

I am in the middle of an overseas move, and it has been filled with dissapointment and frustation.

The team (Randy, Polly and Conor) at ExtraSpace Storage (7220 4th Street North, St Pete) has been both a lighthouse and life saver.

Randy, helped me secure an extra unit at the last moment (poor planning by me) prior to the store even opening and people already waiting to be helped. Alot of business people are nice, but this team has been kind.

I was contacted by Polly to secure my empty storage unit just days after procuring it, this let me know they were vigilent about making sure their customer's items are secure.

Connor was my initial point of contact he was professional, polite and addressed all my questions.

If you want to ensure your goods are secured in a facility where the staff is as concerned as you are about the items you are storing ExtraSpace at 7720 4th Sreet North...

DO NOT RENT HERE!!! They have a tenant who is renting a space on the 3rd floor who is going in over the top of the storage unit and stealing valuables out of multiple storage units. I had multiple items stolen from my unit and pawned. As well as a gentlemen from another floor who got 5 guitars stolen and pawned as well. They are also not letting the police into this man’s storage unit to try to retrieve items that are possibly mine and or others he is stealing from. Again DO NOT RENT HERE. If you do make sure you check you unit weekly and report to police if anything is stolen.
