I don't understand the positive reviews. After seeing how many people's names are Asian, I'm thinking family members are just throwing good reviews. Nepotism. The other people need to seriously try REAL sushi. For a dollar or two more per roll, you can get the real thing. I just ordered out tonight. The staff was quite friendly although they underestimate how long it takes to fix two orders. There was a couple eating in and then myself, ordering to go. I would not have been so disappointed when 10-15 minutes was 30 minutes, except I was completely underwhelmed. Crab Rangoon was underdone and the shell was soggy. When I got home and took the covers off of the plastic trays, I could SMELL the sushi rolls. Sushi should NEVER smell FISHY. The tuna and salmon rolls texture, felt and crumbled and tasted as if they were almost out of a can. I don't know what that red grainy stuff on top was, but it was no roe I have ever seen. Save your $ and get...
Read moreI never write reviews. Had to on this go around. The only reason I gave this two stars is because the staff was very friendly. The sushi was just not right. I ordered my staple rolls: Spicy Tuna. Easy peasy. Fresh cuts of tuna wrapped in rice with some sort of chili sauce mixed in or on top. What arrived was some sort of fish paste wrapped in rice. I tried man, I swear to God I gave it a chance. The texture was awful. It was as if it was processed into a mash and squirted out of a tube. I moved on to my "pickled" Japanese radish rolls. I love anything daikon like so I thought this was surely something simple that couldn't be messed up. Wrong. The "pickled radish" was a small sliver of something that tasted like a sweet and salty pineapple micro nibblet stuffed between a bunch of rice. I had read all the reviews and was excited to try the place since its so close to my house. Not sure how this place is getting 4 and 5...
Read moreI’ve dropped in three times now since it’s super quick and close to my domicile.
It’s a standard fast food sushi/teriyaki place with the basic roll, sushi, sashimi, and teriyaki options, along with some specialty rolls. Their lunch specials are excellently priced (2 standard rolls and salad for $8), but even off lunch prices are reasonable. I’m impressed with their seaweed salad (I’m almost leaning towards saying it’s the best I’ve ever had), and the quality of the rolls is on par with this type of restaurant.
The owners are friendly, the interior is clean and tastefully designed, overall the perfect look and vibe for this type of restaurant.
Sure, there are plenty of excellent sushi restaurants in St Pete, but at this price point and convenient location it’s a perfect addition to this neighborhood. Sure beats the $5.00 Publix sushi and it’s...
