First of all, let me say that I had no idea we had a distillery in St. Pete. I happened upon this wonderful jewel from a mutual friend and I'm so glad she shared. The distillery is located in South St. Pete alongside a trail that you will frequently see people riding or walking along. I will admit that it is kind of hard to spot so keep your eyes open BUTTTT, They have this beautiful mural on the outside of the building that will draw you in. We came on a Saturday afternoon for a tasting. We were greeted by Jess who was super awesome. She introduced herself, offered us a tasting, we sat, and the excitement begun. Jess told us bout each liquor, their flavor profiles and gave us some pointers. I'm a whiskey girl as you know so I immediately asked do taste their Old St. Pete premium whiskey. Let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised how smooth this was. No bite at all. Ok ok St. Pete distillery, I see you. Next, I tried their Banyan vodka. We all know vodka can taste like rubbing alcohol! Surprise surprise, this too was smooth and a bit sweet at the end. Bye bye bye Tito's. Just saying! On to the next taste, so, Jess, suggested mixing their premium whiskey with their Tipplers orange reserve to create an Old Fashioned. I was skeptical bc you know, I'm very particular when it comes to my dranks. I obliged and ya know what, it wasn't half bad. Definitely missing the cherries but it was nevertheless a win. Last on my tasting list was their Old St. Pete Rum and Spice. Jess also suggested this for my tasting. I'm not a huge rum fan so I wasn't too excited but I'm a go with the flow person. She said it's a sipping rum so I said pour it up and let's see. It's a bit sweet but had god flavor. Hints of spice and vanilla. Mix it with some apple juice. Win win. We continued chatting with Jess about the other spirit they distill, she told us that they are expanding, creating an outside pavilion in the next year or so. This was a great Saturday spent at St. Pete Distillery. It's a must to check out and...
Read moreAfter reading a lot of great reviews I was excited to check out this place. I brought my dog in anticipation of sitting outside. But the patio was closed at 2pm on a Saturday. Dogs are not permitted inside, which was no surprise. I was greeted with a hello that made me feel like an inconvenience. I browsed around looking at the bottles on the shelves to try to figure things out for myself. I had to ask if I could have a drink on the patio in a plastic cup only to be told no, the patio was closed and they don’t do tastings outside due to the glass. There are about 6 bar spots and only three small tables in the tasting room. There was no room for me and no one offering any ways to assist me. I decided to buy a bottle of gin and try it at home. Man, what a disappointing customer experience. I asked if the tasting room was full all the time and the employee told me to make a reservation online if I wanted to ensure a spot. I asked if walk ins are welcome and she said it’s hard to tell if there will be room. Hopefully that will help y’all plan in advance. I hope this employee was just having a bad day and the next person to walk in has a better experience. Good luck!
Update: the gin was super tasty and the packaging...

What really made the visit unforgettable was our tour guide, Matthew. He’s not just knowledgeable—he’s genuinely passionate. He has that rare ability to explain the science and art of distilling in a way that’s engaging, funny, and easy to follow (without dumbing anything down). Every stop on the tour felt like a story coming to life, and you could tell he takes pride in both the craft and the community around it. He kept the energy high, answered every question with detail, and made the whole experience feel personal.
Whether you’re a spirits aficionado or just curious, this tour is absolutely worth it. You’ll walk away with a deeper appreciation for the process—and probably a bottle or two you can’t wait to crack open at home. Thanks to Matthew and the St. Pete Distillery team for making it a highlight...
