Crosby's Marketplace — Local services in Salem

Summary:  A compact supermarket that has everything you need for full-service grocery shopping without all the extraneous aisles of filler, at the same price as Shaws or Stop & Shop. What really strikes me about this place is the efficiency with which they arrange and fill the space with everything you need.  But they dont price gouge you in the fashion of most neighborhood grocers.  The company must also treat their employees well, because its always the same staff working there.  Fresh produce, great deli counter, huge selection of wine & beer, fair prices on chicken and beef.  The only caution I have is stay away from the pre-made potato and pasta salads.  Those are gross. is Crosbys as cheap as market basket?  No way, but I dont have to risk hypertension dealing with the crush of people.  Its right around the corner and has everything I need at a price I'm happy with for the...

I usually try and support local business, but I don't know if I'll be going back after my last experience. Almost put my cart down and just walked out without buying anything, after having dealt with customer service. I've never returned a single item here. I bought burgers -- $9.99... opened them a whole 5 days prior to expiration. AWFUL smell. I don't drive and couldn't get there to bring them back until the day after they expired. I didn't have the receipt, but the burgers were clearly sold there and had the sticker on them. And by this point, they looked absolutely horrific, but, again, were only expired for one day at that point.

I went to the meat department after, and saw burgers with the exact same expiration on them(again, expired the day prior) and they were blown up with bacterial gas, just like the ones I got.

PLEASE DON’T GO HERE!! You will regret it. All produce is absolutely disgusting. The amount of things I have had to return because they were moldy and/or rancid is absurd. Yes, they will let you switch it out, but for what? Another moldy carton of strawberries? Another watermelon that was completely sour once cut open? Enough is enough. I’ve been shopping here for years, and it has incrementally gone downhill (quality and price wise) consistently. Especially since the pandemic. I don’t even care for me anymore, I won’t waste my money there, I feel bad for other people, older people who have been going the for a long long time and probably don’t even notice these things if they haven’t yet been priced out of shopping there.
