Leading up to my work trip in SLC, I didn’t want to miss training time so I reached out to a few Jiu Jitsu gyms. John McKean was the only one who responded and said I’d be welcome to drop into Combat Arts. I could tell immediately that John is an extremely knowledgeable and humble instructor. I trained with multiple students of his while I was there and they all had good character which I believe is reflective of their coach. Thank you Combat Arts for the opportunity to train with you. For those already doing Jiu Jitsu and visiting, I definitely recommend you visit Combat Arts. For those in SLC who are interest in starting Jiu Jitsu, Combat Arts is a great place for you to start your journey!
Shout to the Combat Arts students I trained with! John, Matt, Isaiah, Ollie, Jake, Joe, Malachi, Josh, John,...
Read moreI started training at Combat Arts after a few years off from Jiu Jitsu and I couldn't ask for a better place to get back into the sport. John McKean is a fantastic instructor; knowledgeable and attentive to his students. The community is welcoming and embodies the BJJ principles of training with a focus on safety, injury prevention and developing a well rounded understanding of the sport. All levels are welcome. The studio is always clean and well kept as well, and comes with a fully equipped strength training area. Highly recommended for anyone ready put in the time to develop...
Read moreI can't recommend this school highly enough. I was in SLC for a night and dropped in. Professor John was immediately welcoming, as were his students. The fundamentals class was a great pace for anyone interested in trying out jiu jitsu, and the competition class had students of all experience levels who are happy to meet you at your level and push you to be your best. Overall Professor John has built a great culture and really cares about his students' progress. Definitely check out CAS&C if you're a local or just passing through. Thanks...
