Planted Salon — Local services in Salt Lake City

Never have I had such an unpleasant experience with any other salon like I had with Planted Salon. I had only started going to Planted Salon in May of this year & will never go back there again, even if it was the last salon on earth. My stylist was Chelsea. My hair turned out lavender when it was supposed to be plum, & greenish when she tried correcting the lavender. 3rd & last time- she was not able to match a partial highlight to the existing highlight she'd done at the previous appointment. I'm not sure if it's the products the salon uses or how Chelsea mixes the products the salon uses, but something definitely wasn't right ×3. And all 3 times Chelsea took no accountability & showed absolutely no empathy whatsoever. And the entire time, I was only using their shampoo, conditioner & hair products & only going to their salon. Also, before my very first appointment, I texted Chelsea pictures of hair color ideas I had in mind & she never replied, and had the nerve to be rude to me at my very first appointment. Looking back, I regret not acknowledging both these as red flags & stop going to this salon right at that point because Chelsea continued to be rude and the salon owner (Tori) even went as far as referring to me in an derogatory way while chatting with my husband during one of my appointments, which was very inappropriate. I've also witnessed the owner behave & talk with other clients in the salon in an immature & unprofessional manner. Instead of being understanding & sympathetic that my hair didn't turn out right ×3, both the stylist & the owner created a cold & hostile environment for me to be in. Not only is the salon I started going to elsewhere more reasonably priced, they also got the color/shade right. I wasn't going to leave a review about Planted Salon, because I'm not one to leave reviews, but it was way too much. Beware. By the way, Tori- I booked an appt at your salon under my new married name when I got married during the time I was going to your salon, I was not trying to "bypass your system by using a different name", which is not true like all the other false lies you wrote in your reply. I was the one who "set the record straight" because God as our witness, my review was accurate & true, unlike your reply. You also lied when you said your salon "consistently gave me exactly what I asked for"..your salon did my hair lavender, when it was supposed to be plum & greenish with correcting the lavender & a partial highlight that was too light..and that is the God's honest truth & you know it. I absolutely love this salon. Angie does my hair and she has got me fixed up with the cutest shag cut with some flippy fringe bangs. It’s the absolute best haircut I have ever had. When I first saw her, I had some highlights that had grown out pretty poorly and she did a root melt and added some highlights. The root melt matched the exact color of my natural hair color. She added a few face framing highlights for a super low maintenance, but fresh and bright look to my hair color. I could rave on and on about how truly skilled she is, but you should let her work speak for itself by checking out her professional instagram account. My mom loved my hair so much that when she was visiting me in Salt Lake from the Midwest she wanted to book an appointment with her too. Unfortunately (but also… not entirely unfortunate), Angie was out of town when my mom was here, but referred us to Tori (who we found out later owns the salon). Tori gave my mom the cutest bob and color refresh. My mom was absolutely obsessed. Not only are these girls super talented, but they listen and consult with their clients to make sure they reach the hair goals of their clients. These girls have become not just pro’s that I trust with my hair (I’m picky, ngl), but also friends. I truly look forward to seeing and catching up with them when I book my salon services. I got my haircut by Cookie and he did an amazing job! He was really great at asking what I wanted, what he was planning to do, and then walking me through everything he was doing currently. He also checked in with me multiple times throughout to see if I wanted to change anything. I have naturally wavy/curly hair, and this is the first haircut I’ve gotten that I feel actually complements my hair’s texture and my face shape! He also taught me a new way to style my waves/curls that I’m excited to try! I am a shy person and can get overwhelmed with my social anxiety really quickly. A lot of hair salons that I’ve gone too feel like harsh judge-y environments. But Planted didn’t feel this way at all! I felt panicked when I first got there cause I wasn’t sure which door to enter so I kind of just stood there. But one of the hairstylists stuck her head out and kindly asked who I was there for. All of the interactions I had were really nice. Cookie also did a fantastic job at making me feel comfortable the entire haircut. He asks pressure free small talk questions and truly seems interested to listen and talk with you.
