I am a Disabled Veteran(DV) and have decided to give the public transportation thing a go after decades of driving( the streets are getting crazy out there). I was extremely hesitant because of the reviews(and there were alot) I have read over the past few days about public transportation here in San Antonio. I was pleasantly surprised as my journey began with the security officer(in the admin building) who directed me to Building #2 across the street to get a DV discount card and to my surprise the entire experience was totally painless. I have to admit I was expecting to find a disgruntled, hostile, arrogant, etc. employee and to my surprise my experience was none of that. I received my discount card(Free) and I think she used the "Jedi Mind Trick" on me and then I purchased a monthly(31 day) bus pass($19 ). I was only supposed to get a one day pass. I qualify for the special service that is door-to-door in The Via link does not take me to the location that I need because it does not do a straight shot I truly feel like I’m being discriminated against because they wanted every last piece of information to prove that I have a disability and that I need the service that’s not fair just because I’m not in a wheelchair does not give them the right to treat me differently they need to reconsider and do better...
