⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional Emergency Care - University Health Sets the Gold Standard** **Outstanding Experience from Start to Finish** As a new patient expecting a long wait, I was amazed to be escorted to triage before I could even settle in with my book. The entire process from triage through discharge was incredibly efficient and seamless. **Exceptional Staff - Everyone Deserves Recognition:** **Gabriela (Registration):** Brought her mobile station directly to me - no paperwork, no payment hassles. She pulled up my insurance in about 2 minutes and made the entire financial process stress-free and pleasant. **Nathan (Nursing):** Absolutely exceptional care and communication. He clearly explained my next steps and was instrumental in securing follow-up appointments, turning what would have been an 8-month wait elsewhere into just 2 days. What impressed me most was witnessing his equal care and respect for both patients and fellow medical staff - true leadership qualities. **Triage Nurse:** Managed medication administration with such precision it seemed like she had a personal stopwatch just for me, despite the busy ER environment. **Floor Nurse:** Made herself known as "my" nurse while I waited in "her area" - this personal ownership approach made me feel secure and well-cared for. **The Physician:** Beyond 5-star performance - truly diamond-level care. She didn't rush through charts but sat down and thoroughly explained everything. As someone with medical background, I was impressed by her knowledge and how she connected with each patient at their level. **Medical Assistants & Pharmacy Staff:** Flawless efficiency throughout - multiple prescriptions ready in under 20 minutes. **Impressive Observations:** - **Waiting Room:** Comfortable, accessible, with staff integrated for convenience. Genuinely warm and healing environment - **Team Coordination:** Witnessed shift changes that reminded me of military precision - systematic patient briefings while maintaining confidentiality - **Facility:** Impeccably clean and well-organized **THE STARK CONTRAST - Night and Day Healthcare Experiences:** **University Health San Antonio = 5 Gold Stars + Platinum Diamond Rating:** What I experienced at University Health was nothing short of exceptional - a finely-tuned orchestra of personal care and compassion where 'system' and 'compassion' work together seamlessly. Professional, efficient, caring, and genuinely healing environment. **VS.** **South Texas Health Systems & Doctor's Hospital Renaissance (Edinburg/McAllen) = Horror Movie Experience:** Having unfortunately experienced the nightmare that is South Texas Health Systems and Doctor's Hospital Renaissance in the Rio Grande Valley, I can tell you the difference is like comparing a world-class symphony to a backwoods horror movie gas station. Down there, seeking emergency care feels more dangerous than helpful - you'd probably get faster medical attention at the DMV. I even received a VA letter about identity theft and fraudulent staff at those facilities, including someone from Nigeria posing as a doctor. **A SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVEMENT:** It would greatly benefit South Texas Health Systems and Doctor's Hospital Renaissance in Edinburg and McAllen to organize field trips to University Health in San Antonio. They should bring notepads and pens, observe intently, and take detailed notes on how real healthcare should be delivered. They could learn: - How to treat patients with dignity and respect - Proper staff coordination and communication - Efficient systems that actually work - What genuine patient care looks like - How to create healing environments instead of horror experiences **Bottom Line:** University Health represents the gold standard that every healthcare system should aspire to reach. This is how emergency care should be done. **Highly Recommend** - Will definitely return if needed and telling everyone about this exceptional experience. Thank you, University Health, for showing what healthcare excellence looks like!

UPDATE: 12/12/2024 Ms Love, A has given me a call and states that her team has not done anything wrong. She was defensive and wanted more details. I had explained the most recent visit and there is not a real resolution to anything explained. - be careful and document everything if you do go here. When issues are brought up , the final response will always side that staff have done nothing wrong. Our family initially chose University Health Hospital because of its reputation for exceptional cancer care, especially since my wife is a cancer survivor herself. When our daughter was diagnosed with cancer, we had high hopes and, at first, the care lived up to those expectations. However, over the past two years, the level of care has degraded so significantly that I can no longer recommend this hospital to anyone. The decline began halfway through our daughter's cancer treatment. Medications to prevent nausea were not provided during chemotherapy, and when we raised concerns with a lead staff member, our concerns were dismissed. This was the start of a downward spiral. What followed were increasingly long wait times, lack of attention to detail, and a general sense of disorganization. One particularly frustrating incident involved her being referred to another doctor within the hospital. After waiting over two hours past her scheduled appointment time, the fellow doctor spent no more than seven minutes with her. For routine follow-ups, such as blood draws post-cancer treatment, the process regularly takes over four hours—this doesn't include the 1.5-hour drive each way to the hospital. There’s a clear lack of accountability, as excuses are routinely made for delays and poor treatment, with no one in a higher position stepping up to address concerns. Requests for follow-ups from leadership have been ignored entirely. The physical condition of the facility has also deteriorated. The new parking garage is poorly maintained—floors are sticky, and the expansion joints are unsafe for wheelchairs. I almost tipped my daughter’s wheelchair because of the poor design. The main lobby is overcrowded and filthy, with discarded masks and tissues scattered about. On top of that, the pharmacy is not coordinated with the rest of the hospital, making it impossible to pick up critical pain medications after procedures. While I could continue listing issues, it’s clear that these problems stem from a systemic breakdown in care and management. Our family is now in the process of finding a new oncologist, and I regret trusting this hospital with our daughter's care. Pros: Initial care was excellent and compassionate. Location is far but convenient for those in the area. Cons: Significant delays and long wait times (appointments and follow-ups). Poor attention to detail during treatment. Leadership is unresponsive to patient concerns. Unsafe and poorly maintained facilities (parking garage, lobby). Pharmacy operations are disorganized and inconvenient. I hope this review serves as a wake-up call for University Health Hospital to improve its standards and truly prioritize patient care.

I'm currently a patient there and after ready all the reviews and my experiences I can see why some have negative experiences and positive experiences....there's a solution to most of the experiences at this hospital... first of all a lot of these staffs and doctors work very hard daily let me explain...behind closed doors and curtains the our love ones or individual is either recovering or getting treatment we can't see what goes on or what the staff and doctors are doing so every minute can seem like forever when in extreme pain or trying to comfort our love ones. As for the other end for Doctors and nurses they don't see or hear what's going in closed room or behind curtains and wondering why we ate screaming and angry at them for taking forever for comfort or answers and when they are working hard to help time flies pretty quickly and sometimes overwhelmed with amount of patients they are handling so it's hard to remember everything that patient is in extreme pain or someone answers the call button for nurse , pain, assistance, etc and fails to notify them that the patient needs whatever the button is pressed for. Here's the solution is COMMUNICATIONS so far it has been so poor we have all the technology to notify nurse or doctors and makes it easier which patient need attention or assistance. If we notify patient this nurse is busy but will get to you as soon as they can or use the TV stating individual has been notified amount of wait time can be whatever estimated and is not forgotten. Patient doesn't understand how things work in a hospital and as for doctors they don't realize how fast time flies when a patient is in agony or needing assistance because they dontvknow extract what the needs are. So if we can get communications more effectively to each end we can better our patience and how hard they are working to get whatever needs are met. So again Communications is the big factor of all this harsh reviews and experiences and staff not being appreciated accordingly the experiences will be a lot better.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional Emergency Care - University Health Sets the Gold Standard**

Outstanding Experience from Start to Finish

As a new patient expecting a long wait, I was amazed to be escorted to triage before I could even settle in with my book. The entire process from triage through discharge was incredibly efficient and seamless.

Exceptional Staff - Everyone Deserves Recognition:

Gabriela (Registration): Brought her mobile station directly to me - no paperwork, no payment hassles. She pulled up my insurance in about 2 minutes and made the entire financial process stress-free and pleasant.

Nathan (Nursing): Absolutely exceptional care and communication. He clearly explained my next steps and was instrumental in securing follow-up appointments, turning what would have been an 8-month wait elsewhere into just 2 days. What impressed me most was witnessing his equal care and respect for both patients and fellow medical staff - true leadership qualities.

Triage Nurse: Managed medication administration with such precision it seemed like she had a personal stopwatch just for me, despite the busy ER environment.

Floor Nurse: Made herself known as "my" nurse while I waited in "her area" - this personal ownership approach made me feel secure and well-cared for.

The Physician: Beyond 5-star performance - truly diamond-level care. She didn't rush through charts but sat down and thoroughly explained everything. As someone with medical background, I was impressed by her knowledge and how she connected with each patient at their level.

Medical Assistants & Pharmacy Staff: Flawless efficiency throughout - multiple prescriptions ready in under 20 minutes.

Impressive Observations: Waiting Room: Comfortable, accessible, with staff integrated for convenience. Genuinely warm and healing environment Team Coordination: Witnessed shift changes that reminded me of military precision - systematic patient briefings while maintaining confidentiality Facility: Impeccably clean and well-organized

THE STARK CONTRAST - Night and Day Healthcare Experiences:

University Health San Antonio = 5 Gold Stars + Platinum Diamond Rating: What I experienced at University Health was nothing short of exceptional - a finely-tuned orchestra of personal care and compassion where 'system' and 'compassion' work together seamlessly. Professional, efficient, caring, and genuinely healing environment.

South Texas Health Systems & Doctor's Hospital Renaissance (Edinburg/McAllen) = Horror Movie Experience: Having unfortunately experienced the nightmare that is South Texas Health Systems and Doctor's Hospital Renaissance in the Rio Grande Valley, I can tell you the difference is like comparing a world-class symphony to a backwoods horror movie gas station. I must say I’m very disappointed with the level of negligence I received . From the the sassy male receptionist with the plain burgundy scrubs who didn’t follow proper intake (questionnaire) and the rest of the staff in the secondary triage area . I got called to do labs and I got a student from Incarnate Word while others got a RN , I understand they have to practice but I don’t want to be a Guinea pig and my IV Line felt uncomfortable and when I notified her she seemed slightly irritated when she was relaying the information to a vet RN (Michael) as I requested a second opinion , she kept emphasizing in a slight form of mockery how I just wanted to make sure everything was okay . Michael also checked it and flushed it and claimed it was okay however saline fluid used to flush was splattering all over the floor and then he says oh she didn’t this right so I was gaslit and made to feel like I was crazy when I knew something was wrong . The way the student transferred me to him was unnecessary another form of passive aggression. And even though she was slightly rude I tried my best to make light conversation and remain kind and tried to self talk myself and tell my self she’s in a learning state . I understand it’s a revolving door there and they get the same kind of people there and they are burned out and constantly under appreciated or underpaid perhaps . However if you are not a humanitarian and you’re not working in the ER because you genuinely love people and love helping them feel better find a new line of work ! You can’t take your shit out on other people because your on the mean girls team of catty nurses and or profile everyone because of the way they look . If you suspect people want pain killers , UA or blood test them for drugs ! Some of us just want to get in and out because we have kids to care for . I’m grateful to have been seen , however I was not diagnosed and the only staff member that was an absolute sweetheart and an angel was the RN Mr. Hector , he was so warm and friendly , he brought my kids snacks because they were Hungary and boredom killers coloring books crayons etc . He checked on me every 15 minutes despite being busy . Please hire more Mr. Hectors !!! The PA a young gentleman with glasses who asked many investigative questions was also very tentative and had great bedside manor . He also constantly checked on me and I’m very grateful for that . The individuals during that shift before the 6 am shift change were outstanding . The shift change Sunday 2/16 at 6 am with Marisa made me feel neglected and left hanging constantly. She was passive aggressive because she was irritated that I had pushed the nurse call button for my vitals monitor that was left beeping for over 15 minutes when anyone could have came in and silenced the damn machine . I understand your busy but it felt intentional out of annoyance to prove a point . Which means you clearly shouldn’t be a provider ! I live in the downtown area and I took the via with my four kids all the way to this specific facility because of the impressive treatment I received and lifesaving iron transfusion and outstanding service in 2021 . It would appear management has changed a bit since then. And not in a great way I might add. My trip to the ER was all for nothing . I left the hospital disappointed with no diagnosis no treatment plan and no resolution for the symptoms I’m still currently having while writing this . Fever ,chills , neck pain , ear pain , severe headache from hell non stop for 10 days . Hopefully whatever I have doesn’t get transmitted to my children as I Cosleep with my baby . Perhaps they should have done a full blood culture on a full spectrum to eliminate any other potential threats. They didn’t test for bacteria because my white blood cell count wasn’t elevated . I will be seeking a second opinion at another facility due to borderline malpractice...

Before I say anything I would to pray to our heavenly father for every patient in that hospital and say thank you to all the nurses for being so kind may God bless all of you. Every nurse and the Chaplin were awesome people and really cared. However I want everyone to im a Christian āœļø I would not post anything that I would not say to the doctors faces standing right in front of them like I did today. I went in to the ER IN Absolute tears my leg hurt so bad after arriving at 2a Saturday morning I was finally seen at 2:30 pm by the 1st vascular doctor a very nice lady I was hurting so bad I was in tears I knew what had to be done it's called a angiogram on my left leg as I can not walk for more than a 100 yards and I loose my breath and my heart feels like it's coming through my chest. So while in tears the female doctor did some tests and after a while she came to me and said sir do not worry about a thing im going to get this surgery done for you as I can see it's needed. She then said However im going to call my chief and have him come in and evaluate as well. So after about an hour little over I hear my name called I look up and it's another doctor in gray he introduced him self and asked the same questions band he to evaluated me upon completing he said sir I swear to you , you have nothing to worry about we will get this surgery done, im personally admitting you my self you will be in your room in less than a hour. Not really believing this was going to happen i asked you really mean this, you swear it's going to get done. He knelt down on one knee and placed his left hand on my right knee and said "Mr-----. I swear to gog you are going to get this surgery. He said maybe not till Monday but you will get it. I was happ and excited to know that I would be able to walk like normal again. So I waited and waited Monday came no breakfast, no lunch then at 3:30 pm The main MDof the hospital a lady came in and said vascular has decided that the surgery is not needed and wants to treat you with medications. Iwas so angry and disappointed I asked while crying to speak with the Chaplin such a wonderful man. I listened to everything thatvthe nurse who was in the room at the time and I had to say. He then asked me if I wanted to file a complaint I said yes, but have done more i filed a complaint with the hospital and called my insurance (Major) then I called my General practitioner they to are going to file. Then I called a attorney. What was done to me was so ungodly wrong it's unbelievable. I pray with the help from our heavenly father this costs them millions of dollars and some doctors thier jobs. I was completely lied too and spent 3 days in a hospital because a man lied to me while saying under gods words this would be done. Sobi left on Tuesday the would no longer listen to the proof. The nurse, before leaving i asked the charge nurse what to do or where to go he himself suggested another hospital. He also apologized shook his head and said he didn't understand it either. This is from a 64 year old Christian āœļø man who would not lie for anyone or anything. However I pray to God almighty himself that before anyone considers UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL FOR ANY KID OF SURGERY THAT YOU READ ALL REVIEWS THE DOCTORS AT THAT HOSPITAL DO NOT CARE WJATS BEST FOR THE PAITENT JUST THE FASTEST AND EASIEST BWAYBTO TREAT THEM.
