Coggan Family Aquatic Complex — Local services in San Diego

This is our second summer of private swim lessons at Coggan, our son started at 3 years old. He just turned 4 years old and thanks to the dedicated, kind, and positive swim instructors is able to jump in the pool and easily swim a pretty long way to get to the stairs or pool deck. The instructors taught him how to breath while he swims, roll over, and back float already. Private 25 min lessons are the perfect amount of time to get max experience because they work the entire time and have fun while they learn. Michael the instructor coordinator is awesome super helpful, cares about the kids and program, and is a great communicator. This is not a place for serious swimming. Twice, I have been asked in the middle of a workout to stop swimming and find a new lane to swim in because some large group needed the space. Of course, no other lanes are available.

Mind you the lifeguards and the front desk seem dumbfounded that the large group has "reserved" the space. Despite the fact that the pool is part of La Jolla High School, the group running it rent it out so frequently to large groups that finding time and space to swim is improbable.

The large swim group's money takes precedent over an individual membership so join and pay at your own risk. Checking the monthly swim calendar doesn't help because large group reservations...

Nice place but the person in charge of scheduling has horrible customer service skills. I called to schedule classes for my daughter, she charged me and didn’t put us on the schedule so we had to wait an hour for the next available instructor. After the lesson, I went to talk to her about making the lessons a weekly deal and she snapped at me telling me she was super busy trying to train someone as well as find a new instructor. I very calmly told her I left my information for her so she could call me when she had a moment. That was 3 weeks ago. I have not scheduled anymore lessons because of her.
