I came here on a Groupon. Making the appointment was easy over the phone, and it was nice that the person who answered spoke English pretty well, which made for better communication than I have experienced elsewhere. I loved that there is a small parking lot there — so helpful in La Jolla!! The spa is beautifully decorated and the staff is warm and kind. I had a great massage… a little different than others I’ve had, and like someone pointed out, the “hot stones” are a bag of hot stones laid on your upper back after that part has been massaged, and while the masseuse is working on the lower body. Emma was my masseuse today and she was careful to go hard or soft on specific areas as I requested, and was happy to go softer when I asked her to. (She is tiny but very strong!) The facility is clean and welcoming. My only suggestion is that they add additional music to avoid hearing the same piece over and over again. (I didn’t mind it so much but it has got to be maddening for the employees!) Wonderful place, I will be back and I definitely recommend it.
Update, 8/29/25 I returned to the spa on another Groupon, and had another very lovely experience. This time I had Andy, and he was very attentive and frequently checked in with me to make sure he was using the right pressure at various parts of my body. (I have a sensitive lower back so that was important to me). It was another great experience and I feel very relaxed. The only critique, again, is the same melody of music repeating endlessly. Some variety of music would improve...
Read moreI went in for an aromatherapy and hot stone massage with my friend, but my experience was far from relaxing. When I told the masseuse that the pressure was too intense and it was causing me pain, she just laughed at me. Additionally, she stopped the massage twice within the 60-minute session to help other customers pay, explaining that she was the "only one who spoke English." After handling their payments, she came back into the room to continue the massage without washing her hands.
Later, I requested cupping, but after just one minute, I was in so much pain that she had to remove the cups. She then told me and my friend that she'd never seen someone’s skin react like mine, where the cupping left dark marks on light skin, which only made me more concerned that something was wrong. I was in significant discomfort, especially after not even completing the full 10 minutes of cupping. Despite this, she insisted I still had to pay for the cupping session.
Even though I felt mistreated, I still gave a $5 tip to be polite, but then she told my friend and laughed at the amount. It was a really disappointing experience as I felt abused,...
Read moreMy sister used a Groupon on here and it was a horrible experience. The woman was so pushy and so aggressive about a tip but refused to listen to go softer when she asked. It almost seemed like the staff was not actually trained to massage they were massing so aggressively and rough. There were no essential oils used like advertised and the stones were not the same as advertised either. When my sister didn’t leave a tip because the massage was so horrible the woman yelled at them, chased them out and texted my sister calling her a dog and a bad person for not leaving a tip! Massage was FULLY paid for but the woman was angry about not being given a tip. A tip is NOT mandatory it is given for a job well done when in this case it was not!!! DO NOT COME HERE!!!! I attached photo of the text the massage woman left! She pressured my sister into give a tip that she did not deserve so my sister felt she had to tell the woman in it was the room so she would let them leave! Horrible horrible i would never recommend this spa. Extremely unprofessional and look at the other one star reviews all the same complaints there’s...
