As much as I would like to leave a good review I just can't.
My girlfriend and I have been here countless times to get rings resized. The person helping us out was not the owner but the other gentlemen I can't remember his name. We had over 8 rings resized and only 2 we're correct. All were off by a half size. Which when trying them on, they went okay because we though our hands were just swollen from being near the beach but that is not the case. They would either fall off. Or be so tight we would have to almost hurt out selfs taking them off. For example, one ring we wanted to have as a size 9.5 is actually an 8.75.
We also had a necklace repaired there. The clasp was just old and falling apart. My girlfriend had fixed it in the past with cheap jewelry supplies, which we mentioned upon drop off. He cut it too short and just used jump rings to attach a new clasp to the chain. He also used some chemical bath to "clean it". Which ruined it. He told us we needed to have it silver plated, so we paid extra only for him later to tell us it just needed to be polished and he still went ahead and plated it without checking in again.
The final thing that set in stone that we will never go here was the custom ring. My girlfriend had some loose small diamonds that she wanted made into a ring. She wanted it Sterling sliver. After adding a few more stones we were all set. Few weeks later we got a okayish ring. We paid over 500 bucks. After a few days her finger was turning green. Now that's normal for 925 sliver....if it was. At the time I worked at a aerospace company so I tested it with a XRF gun and it was WAYYYYY more then 70% copper. When we tested it in the store it was infact not sliver. He remade it and it looks even worse. It's silver but still turns her finger green. But the ring is just. Ugly and too thick. She wanted to use this as her future wedding band, but now we will have to get it remade somewhere else.
As much as I want to love the place and shop local on OB this is just not the place to get any jewelry worked on.
Please be careful when getting...
Read moreMy wife and I came to the store to purchase her a blue sapphire ring for our anniversary. She found one that she REALLY liked, so we purchased it about an hour before the shop closed on a Friday evening a few weeks ago.
We were nearly finished driving back home when my wife realized that one of small stones was missing. In the excitement at the store, we must have missed it. Understandably, my wife was really disappointed because her new, shiny, special ring already had a defect. Since I didn’t want to start the weekend on a sour note, we immediately turned around to see if we could have it fixed before the store closed.
We get to the shop and they were happy to replace the small stone. Unfortunately, this isn’t where the story ends. Any reasonable person would have expected the jeweler to inspect the ENTIRE ring for any loose stones after he replaced the missing one to ensure that it doesn’t happen again. However, this jeweler was more fixated on starting his weekend than taking an additional moment or two to inspect the ring.
The shop closes behind us, and we left with the ring, which we believed was now in perfect condition. As we’re driving away from the shop, she finds yet another stone missing. At this point we’re wondering if the ring was poorly made, but we’re also wondering why the jeweler wouldn’t have caught the missing stone when he was holding the ring not 10 minutes earlier.
The next day, my wife went to the jeweler to see if he could replace the missing stone and inspect the ring for any other loose stones. He recognized her from the previous night, which seemed to spark unwarranted anger. When my wife asked if he could fix it, he responded with, “I won’t keep fixing it!” He refunded her fully, but his response and attitude were very unprofessional. It was, after all, HIS mistake for not only selling a ring with missing stones, but putting minimal effort into doing his job correctly the first time.
I wouldn’t recommend shopping here for jewelry - you may not get quality...
Read moreBeen here a few times and unfortunately have not left thrilled on any occasion. My watches that I brought in for battery replacement died within a year which surprised me as the watches were pretty new. Besides that, I recently went in with a brand new watch because I was hoping they could help me set up the time and adjust the length (it’s digital, and I thought I needed to remove extra chain pieces). The repairman there adjusted the length in 2 seconds, let me know that the links cannot be removed, and then set the time for me 30 seconds later. I expressed my gratitude for the quick fix and turned to leave when he said, “I normally charge for this” and I said, “oh, my bad! How much do I owe?” And to my shock he said $15. For 1 minute of work. I couldn’t believe it. It should’ve been free (he literally could’ve just taught me how to adjust the time for $0) and once he saw my shock he should’ve at least been like “5 bucks.” I love shopping small and supporting local businesses but geez, not after...
