I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've stayed at the ocean villa inn, and I've never wrote in a single negative review until now, because that's seriously how disappointed I am with this whole experience. Even though a lot of the rooms are kind of outdated, you basically got what you paid for, and I loved having that cheap option while literally being right on the beach. This place was my happy place, just waking up and opening the curtains to an ocean view started any day of mine off great. But recently they decided to update a couple of the rooms, which is great, I've had the pleasure of staying in both of the premium rooms, thinking they did a great job with updates. This is where it ends for me though. Not only do they charge you over $100-$150 more for these premium rooms verses the regular ones, I found both premium rooms to be really dirty. The first one (the king) had black stuff all over the toilet that looked like a mixture of cigarette ashes and dead bugs, there was literally coffee spilt all around the coffee maker and around the floor of the coffee maker, and then there was more sticky things spilt towards the bedroom clearly showing that the room had never been cleaned. When I let the guy at the front desk know, he was super kind and switched me to the premium Queen room, which at first I had no problems with. But I also found to that room to be dirty, and only realized on my second day when I was looking under the bed for the TV remote, and notice trash under the bed that I knew for a fact did not come from me. It was also a used cup supplied by the hotel, when I haven't used a single paper cup of theres, I don't even drink coffee and brought water bottles with me that I've been using, So once again tacos the show that these rooms these rooms are not cleaned, and they're charging WAY too much for filthy rooms. Being that they are charging $100 plus more for these rooms and the regular rooms, you would think that they would especially put more cleaning into them, I shouldn't be finding used cups under the bed, and it grossed me out so bad that i thought about checking out right then and now, but it was too late for a refund, and it's 12:30 in the morning as well as my last night here anyways, so I figure I might as well not waste any more money by leaving and not getting my refund back. ALSO, the premium rooms have larger TVs that are supposed to be smart TVs, but the TVs won't even connect to the internet. The person at the front desk tried to explain to me that the smart TVs are for people who want to watch Netflix while they're here, but I guess he doesn't understand that you can't watch Netflix when you can't connect to the hotels internet provided here. So you're stuck either using your hotspot, or watching the satellite TV that they provide in every single room, not just the premium rooms. There is seriously nothing better about the premium rooms whatsoever except for the fact that they have a bigger TV that still doesn't connect to the internet ,and that they did some updating in the bathrooms and then the main bedroom, but thats literally it. If you all want to pay close to $150 extra night just to have a 42 inch tv with satellite verse a 24 or 30 inch satellite TV in the regular rooms, then go ahead and spend the extra money, but personally id rather save my money. Like I said, I used to love staying here and I probably stayed here over 50 times, but I doubt I'll be returning. So .... Please, if y'all are going to charge so much more for the premium room, the least y'all can do is make sure the rooms are properly cleaned, and that the internet is working at all times!!

I booked a room for memorial day weekend to bring my 8 year old best friend and loyal boxer Cassius to see the beach for the very first time. We live in Colorado and I could not wait to see him run and splash on dog beach a literal 6 minute walk from our room. I booked through Booking.com and purchased travel insurance. On Wednesday March 26th Cassius had to go to the emergency vet for an acute pancreatitis attack and tragically had to be put to rest on Friday March 28th. He was 8 years and 3 months old. I have been completely devastated, but immediately contacted booking.com who was very understanding and requested Ocean Villa to waive the cancellation fee of 1,161.00. I also filed a claim with Global Travel Insurance. Much to my despair the claim was denied because my travel companion that passed away was not a human, and Ocean Villa REFUSES to waive the cancellation fee stating it was a non refundable room. They got 2 months notice, and told me that even though they knew they would be filling the room and getting paid twice, they were not able to refund the room rate. The gentleman told me he would be able to reschedule if I had not cancelled it completely. I want to know one thing, because to me this is like going to Disney World after your child dies. WHEN? HOW LONG? 3 MONTHS? 6 MONTHS? WHEN DOES THE HEART HEAL THE LOSS OF YOUR DOG AND MAKE IT NOT A NIGHTMARE TO GO AND STAY AT A DOG FRIENDLY HOTEL WITHIN EYESIGHT OF DOG BEACH? Zero stars... negative stars for a hotel that claims to cater to dog lovers but lacks the compassion of a human that just lost their dog. My heart was against this type of a rant, this is not me. But Honestly Ocean Villa... you are worse than any establishment I could have ever imagined. Shame on you.

Best thing about this hotel is the location. This hotel has SOOO much potential, but seems like the owners have lost interest in it. Very much in need of renovation and a little TLC. We stayed in Room 10 (they call it a "suite") for two nights with our small dog. For our dog, it was a dream vacation! Not so much for us. I'll mention just a few of the issues: The room had no towels!! No bath towels or hand towels... just a couple wash cloths. I've never stayed in a motel or hotel that didn't supply towels! Such an easy fix, but many other reviews said they had the same experience. A surefire way to make sure guests have a negative first impression. When I walked over to the office to ask about it, I got no apology. The employee grabbed two bath towels and handed them to me. I mentioned we had three people, and they grudgingly gave me a third towel. We later found out our room had no soap! We had to go ask for that as well, and they gave us a couple small bars of soap. The room really supplied no amenities. It has a kitchenette (nice size refrigerator and a microwave) but no dishes, silverware, towels (not even paper towels). The sink in the kitchenette was semi-clogged (took about 5 minutes to drain). The back patio had a constant roof leak from upstairs, so we had to be careful where we sat to avoid getting wet, and the patio floor was constantly wet. The motel does not provide doormats (inside the room or outside the room), so hard to not track sand in. There is nowhere to wipe your feet off. Another easy fix that would have made things much nicer. The back door opens to a small patio and shared area with artificial grass where the doggies can do their business, which is nice, but it's contained by a 10' high chain link fence! It feels a bit like you are incarcerated. And the fence has no opening for access to the beach or walking trails. You have to go out the front door, walk across the parking lot, follow the street around, and then access the area directly behind the hotel and dog beach beyond. What an easy fix it would be to install a locking gate so guests could access that area directly, and it would really enhance the guest experience. See what I mean about this motel having high potential, but the owners seemed to have mentally checked out, which it too bad. I could go on about the room (moldy bathtub with the finish chipped off in the tub itself, dripping faucets, cheap mismatched furniture)... but you get the picture. Unfortunately, a stay here isn't cheap. The #279/night room rate didn't seem bad for a motel almost on the sand, but when you see your room, you might have second thoughts. And be sure to read the fine print: $30/night for parking (and there are not enough parking spots to accomodate all the guests, so parking is sketchy), $30/night pet fee, and if you are staying with your pet, you get no housekeeping service. We paid just over $681 for two nights to stay in a room that was really run down. My last gripe: The second story floor (our ceiling) is not insulated and transmits every little footsetp and other sound. During our first night, the guests above us were clomping around at 4AM. They were so loud that they scared our dog and she started barking (she rarely barks). So if you stay in a first floor room (the dog friendly rooms), cross your fingers that you have quiet, courteous guests above you!. With all of that being said, we still had a fun couple days at Ocean Beach. Our dog loved it, and our granddaughter loved it. I didn't really feel like the high price of the hotel was justified. I wouldn't stay here again and can't recommend it to others. PS: This really is my last gripe. We ate dinner at the trailer. My granddaughter ordered a cheese pizza (good), I ordered a chicken pizza (terrible) and my wife ordered the burger (also terrible). My pizza and the burger ended up in the trash, which is...

Don’t waste your money. They charged me $350/night for a room not worth a third of the cost. ||Downsides:||Website from App does not provide pet rules which you are forced to sign upon check in. No where does it say you can’t leave your dog alone in room at anytime. This greatly hinders plans you made for your stay and is a rude surprise upon check in. ||Website says every room has a microwave. Room 30 has no microwave available. ||Front door to room has 1/8 to 1/4 gaps at edges so noise and sand travel in freely||Sliding glass door to deck not maintained and it takes 2 hands and brute force to open and close it as scraping noise occurs||Only 1 panel of curtain per each side of door instead of 4 so there is no privacy and you can see directly into the bed at night. This also means Sun pours in at sunrise. Curtain rod should be mounted 3 additional inches wider to allow to cover this gap. ||Lights next to beds have low wattage yellow lights which make it poor bedside reading lighting.||Room only has one side chair that is actually made for a restaurant. No table or desk to work on, eat at, or play games at… there is room for a small table or desk and 2 chairs. There’s nothing that makes you want to stay in and use this room beyond sleeping and bathing. |I’m |Over head light is a glaring blue light similar to commercial spaces or public bathrooms ||Bed pillows are beat up and very very thin. Approximately 4-4.5” thick. They are difficult to sleep with and need to be replaced. ||Only 2 hangars provided in the closet||No towel rods by vanity or in shower room, just one single hook. Where does the second person hang up their towel? Where do you hand your wet bathing suits or beach towels. This is just poor planning and cheap remodeling without thinking about customers.||Shower glass panel and door improperly installed. The plastic edge which keeps water from spraying out does not line up because it’s installed crooked. I touched at one end and leaves a .25” plus gap at the other end where water floods on floor.||The LVP flooring in the bathroom is improperly cut and installed so there is a large piece of flooring missing in the middle of the floor. The floor between the toilet and tub has a spongy area which could denote a sub flooring issue. The installer never bothered to remove the pencil/pen cut markings where they cut at doorways. A cheap, amateurish, improper flooring installation. | |Bathroom Mold: the wall and floor molding outside the shower and around the doorway into the vanity area gets so much water continually that the wall and molding are wet, discolored greatly, and covered in black mold that’s growing. A piece of baseboard was fit in improperly and .25” gaps are on either side. This is allowing water to intrude behind it and has black mold growing on it. ||There is a sliding barn door between the hall way and vanity/closet area with no inside handle. If you are inside the vanity/closet area and the door is closed you have no handle or inset finger hold to push the door open. A person can easily get trapped in the space.||No soap dish at vanity . A small item but without it the soap causes a mess on the countertop ||Conditioner and shampoo is ok. Bodywash smells like OFF mosquito repellent. Black mold growing where this is attached to wall. No soap holder in shower so the bar soap at vanity cannot easily be used instead of bodywash. ||A lack of trash cans outside the room or in parking lot. This means if you bring food back to room and it is pungent there is no place to throw out your smelly trash that’s easily found. ||No phone numbers posted in room for emergencies or to even call the front desk....
