There is no breakfast, and the coffee is legitimately bad. The office is directly accessible to the street and was frequently locked - in fact when we arrived we couldn't get in. Now, this is because the staff was helping a customer with their TV, so I can't fault them too much, but it was confusing. When I was able to get in to the office, the people were friendly and for such a small lobby, it is well decorated and appointed. The cleanliness overall of the place is pretty good. The maids were pleasant, and did a good job every day taking care of our room. Ocean Beach is an ... interesting neighborhood. It was described as Bohemian in a travel book I read. You can take that as friendly to the homeless. In many ways though the town has a quaint, funky, cool vibe though. Overall, It didn't really bother me, but I imagine some people would be turned off by it. It is literally across the street from the beach and less than 0.5 mile walk from almost any business, so ultimately I think the location is a plus. The room is small. The decor is fancy, but showed it's age - e.g., damaged baseboard, broken door knob protector on the wall, etc. The ocean view rooms don't really face the ocean, the are more oriented south-southwest, so that was a bit misleading. In my particular case, we were in room 208, which is the furthest possible room from the ocean. The balcony basically faces the parking lot across the street, with the tiniest bit of ocean visible across the way. See photos. The outdoor common space somewhat makes up for it - two nice decks directly facing the ocean, and a pretty little courtyard. Again in fairness to the hotel, I do not think the room size is shown deceptively on the website, I think we knew what we were buying when we booked. The bed was comfortable, bathroom was fine, and the TV was acceptable. The keycard to get in simply touched the door, rather than needing to be swiped or inserted, which I liked. I would overall give it 3.5 stars if I could. Decent place overall.

We came to town for a wedding. We pulled into the parking lot and parked, it felt very secure. Lots of space and parking is a premium in any beach town. Check-in was fast and easy. We ubur'd everywhere for the wedding festivities with no issues. The location in the OB is not far from the San Diego's International airport but far enough so you don't know it's close. The location across from a popular beach, in a well trafficked area and surrounded by great places to eat is great. Bring your ear protection if you're a light sleeper or early to bed person because the goodtimes roll to the early a.m. here(I'm a light sleeper and had no problem with earplugs in.) My husband chose to use ear protection the second night, we were there during a really fun surfing festival on the weekend. We changed rooms shortly after check-in to get a better view. So, be aware of the opportunity to upgrade if they have it available. We had a room key malfunction and the management fixed it immediately, (batteries needed for the door lock.) We had lots of towels, a coffe maker, a small frigerator in the room. The balcony had a table and chairs we used to relax and have our morning coffe. Every staff member was consistently pleasant. The rooms are well appointed, this is an older renovated space, very charming. I'd stay here again. I'd recommend it to couples, familes for a fun place to stay in th OB!

Decent little hotel, prime location, fair price. We had a little bit of trouble with our room, ended up getting stuck at the hotel for about an hour, and moved twice, but once we got settled, all was good. The room is very small, the bathroom even worse. I could literally wash my hands while going to the restroom, if I wanted. The shower is tight, and I'm not a large person. That being said, it was very cute, and did the job just fine. The bed was reasonably comfortable, sheets, blankets and pillows were plenty. Had a little table and chairs to sit and eat dinner, if you don't eat on the balcony. Water pressure was ok, I've had way worse in the area. It did get nice and hot, which I appreciated after walking all day long. A.C. worked great, kept the room nice and cool. We turned on the electric fireplace on the wall, just to check it out. That added some nice ambiance. The walls are definitely paper, paper thin and honestly we heard more noise coming from the hotel and people coming and going, more than beach noise and traffic. The customer service was awesome, the guys were very apologetic and helpful when we had issues. Overall, I'd stay here again, for sure.

Myself & my girlfriend recently stayed the night here at Ocean Bean Hotel. First off called the front desk and was greeted by Kirk, I was just calling to know the parking situation and without asking he said we check in at 3 but we can have you in by 2 if you were looking to get here a little early. Which was nice of him to offer. On day of check-in, we did get there early, parking was a little tight but not an issue. I cant remember his name, I believe it was Andrew who check us in at 2:30. Friendly, accommodating, and even gave us some great recommendations for food later that evening. The rooms themselves are clean. Bed was made nicely, and everything you would except from a hotel was provided in room. Now its a hotel on the beach, so you can escape humidity so if the floors feel damp, that's why. Its a gorgeous area with a nice outdoor common area with a fantastic view of the beach. Check out was easy enough, even asked if I could pay for additional time on parking outside of what is already included when staying at OB Hotels. The nice lady named Ester told me our pass was good till 1, which was great. We didn't feel like we had to rush out of there, instead me and my lady went to get breakfast, did a little shopping and walked along the beach. Now one thing I would like to note, I am a forgetful person and I did leave an item there that was rather costly. Not knowing at the time if I had left it there, I called the front desk and was greeted by Ester who said she would check the room I stayed in and to give her call back. 15 minuets later called back and Kirk answered, he was well aware and had them item at the front desk. Now I live 2 hours away and was already home by the time I had noticed. The fact that they took the time to look and even hold it ready for me is A+ service. Coming from a field of service in managing weddings in my past, this is what I love to see. Thank you Ocean Beach for making our anniversary a lovely one. We will be...

Not a good nights rest. One night in San Diego and I mistakenly didn’t do enough research. This hotel is in a fun, albeit very noisy, active neighborhood. (COVID caution) I was looking for a peaceful place to relax, with ocean views and was disappointed in what I paid for. I would not stay here again.

The pros: very friendly employees. They do their best to make your stay comfortable. Pet friendly and be warned, ground floor only. I didn’t see this when I booked and it makes a difference. In times of COVID, this hotel does seem to be making good efforts at keeping everyone safe and healthy.

The cons: my ocean view front room looked out over a parking lot. Cars and trucks blocked any limited view I may have had. Sitting on the patio, passerby’s see you and engage in conversation. I didn’t feel safe with such close street level access to my room. I wish I hadn’t paid for this upgrade as I choose to walk across the street instead of using said patio. An upper level balcony would have been much better.

Hotel rooms are not comfortable, quiet, or relaxing. Very thin walls and noisy. You hear every step and conversation of people walking by. It’s not a quiet night. Bedding is not plush, as I would expect given the price for an upgraded room. The bed frame is wobbly. The pillows feel inflated with air. Thin bedding that feels like I’m sleeping under sheets alone.

Room fixtures are rusting. The phone and television didn’t work. No coffee pot in the room. Limited black out curtains let in light from the courtyard and street. It’s hard to get a good nights rest here.

In full transparency, the front desk tried to get my television working and was very kind and apologetic. But at the end of the day, if you’re wanting to relax in bed and watch a show, that was not my experience. I had to stand to get the remote to work. Manually turn the TV on/off from the back of the unit. Not the worst thing in the world but it’s also not how I wanted to spend a...
