Ocean Beach is amazing as a beach, and visually stunning. The water is neither too warm nor too cold. The waves are just right, not too strong and not too calm. Unfortunately, the restrooms are extremely dirty and almost unusable. There is free parking, but you do need to find an available spot. You do not really have to worry about parking hours because the rules are not strictly enforced, so it is flexible. The vibe here is great, relaxed and laid-back. You can just hang out however you like. It is definitely worth a visit. Just keep in mind that the cleanliness of the area and the restrooms is terrible. You can make a fire if you find an open fire pit. The sunset is breathtaking and I highly recommend watching it. There are places where you can take a shower. Beach access and parking are free. You don’t have to pay for anything at all — not for showers, not for restrooms

I am very happy to live here! The local scene is very laaaiiiidd back. Sure there are ups and downs anywhere you go but I'm gonna just mention some ups. You can't beat the weather, food, drink and music scene. Farmers market every Wednesday, musicians playing in the streets. Not to mention the beaches and the Pacific Ocean, which is the largest ocean on this planet. And Dog Beach is the first leash free beach in the United States. The pier, which is sad to have it temporarly closed, is the longest concrete structure of of the West Coast. Just some fun facts for ya. For a local it's all within walking distance. Good for stumbling home. Check it out! It's awesome!

Ocean Beach is a beautiful and relaxed beach with a laid-back vibe. The sand is soft and the water is perfect for swimming, surfing, or just relaxing on the shore. I especially enjoyed watching the sunset over the water and seeing people surfing. The beach is also conveniently located near many restaurants and shops, so you can easily grab a bite to eat or do some souvenir shopping after your beach day. If you're looking for a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy some quality time by the ocean, Ocean Beach is the perfect spot!

I will fully admit that I'm a square, mid-40s dude who isn't even as cool as I thought I was at 22. But this place was kind of a bummer. Strong smell of weed everywhere, some rough looking hippies and homeless everywhere, and the pier was closed for renovations. I really don't have a problem with legalized weed, to each their own, but do we just have to live with the stank now? Ugh. At least parking was free a block from the beach. Wished I would have gone earlier to Sunset Cliffs for the evening instead of Ocean Beach. Again, full caveat, I'm a square reviewing for the service of other squares. You cool hippies will obviously...
