A True Community Gem: Grocery Outlet in Point Loma
Grocery Outlet at 3948 Point Loma Blvd has been a staple in my routine, especially during the challenging times of COVID-19. This store isn't just about finding great deals—it's about the sense of community that you feel the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff genuinely care about their customers.
Larry, the manager, stands out as someone who goes the extra mile to ensure the store runs smoothly and that every customer feels valued. He's a tall guy, both literally and figuratively, in how he manages the store. You’ll likely recognize him right away—he’s the gentle giant who always seems to be there when you need a hand. While the focus here is on the store as a whole, I’d be remiss not to mention the positive impact Larry has on the shopping experience. He's one of those people who makes you feel like you're visiting friends rather than just running errands.
But it's not just Larry that makes this place special—it's the entire team. The folks at the register are absolutely phenomenal. They’re the kind of people who can turn a simple transaction into a bright spot in your day. Whether it’s their fun personalities, friendly banter, or just the way they keep everything running smoothly, these employees make shopping here a genuinely enjoyable experience. Each visit feels like catching up with familiar faces, and that’s something you don’t find everywhere.
Overall, Grocery Outlet in Point Loma is more than just a place to shop—it's a place where you feel like you belong. Whether you’re a regular or just stopping by, you’ll find a warm welcome and great service. Thanks to Larry and the entire team for making this store a bright spot in...
Read moreI had forgotten what a terrible experience shopping can be at this store. I hadn't been to this store in several months after I saw a dog urinate on the floor and the store clerk just gave the owner some paper towels to clean it up. I complained that it was a health code violation and the clerk shrugged it off. Unfortunately, tonight I made a huge mistake and stopped in this store again!! Since this store allows people to bring dogs in the store and put dogs in the shopping carts (which I consider unsanitary), I placed the items I was going to purchase directly into my bag rather than a shopping cart. When I got to the checkout, the clerk rudely told me that I wasn't allowed to have my own bag in the store. I hadn't seen a sign posted prohibiting bags. I explained that the carts are unsanitary, and I didn't want my food items in them. She pointed to the female at the door with a spray bottle and said they sanitized them. Obviously, she didn't realize that just wiping a handle on the cart doesn't mean the rest of the cart is clean. I can understand a clerk not wanting to touch a bag I bring into the store (even though they are wearing gloves), but I really don't understand why she refused to allow me to put my purchased items back into my own bag. I purchased a bag just to get away from her and out of the store. She then yelled to the female at the door, "Don't let anyone else in here with their own bags." Seriously, what are they going to do -- strip search people or search purses at the door to make sure the shopper isn't carrying a concealed bag? What a bunch of...
Read moreSad that a former Mgr. that worked here has to ruin my 5 star rating and experiences here. You did the right thing firing her! I never been treated so poorly as a paying customer, but will report her if I see her again. I was harassed and insulted on a regular basis by the short, blondish chubby Mgr. whenever I came in 1hr to 30 min. before closing, despite the fact I was rarely the last in line, and a regular loyal customer that shopped here weekly since 2016. (Google timeline proves my visit times). Yet I NEVER complained, I just quit shopping at my former favorite grocer the last several months because of her. Used to buy here 4x+ a month. Store lost $250+ mo. from her attitude. On 1-15-22 she saw me at local bar and proceeded to go off insulting and harassing me in front of friends and cameras at the bar! It was sad, but I got witnesses. She was clearly drunk and crying complaining about being fired from the Grocery Outlet. Despite her, all the other Mgrs and employees are great! Never had a issue with the others. They do have a great selection of healthy...
