Great servers, very friendly and welcoming. I made a reservation, but I think they are not really checking it as they didn’t ask for my name. I made a note in the reservation that I would like to sit by the window but they didn’t get us to the window. Although when I realized it, I asked the hostess to move us to the window, and there was no problem in that. The most expensive piece was a king crab (1 lb/$63) for two. Snow crab ($34/1lb) might be enough for two as well. Total was $155: combo + 1 boba tea. We still can’t find a good boba tea in US. The one we ordered here wasn’t good either. The wait was around 30-40 mins as it was Saturday evening, a very busy time. The lobster was amazing (definitely recommend it!), and I recommend to take 1lb as it’s just one medium-sized piece. Totally loved black mussels, calamari, and corn! Most seafood pieces were delicious, but because of over salted King’s Special Sauce, it felt like all the seafood we got was over salted. I would recommend to take Plain Butter Sauce if you come here as it’s simpler and preserves the original taste of the seafood. King’s Special is delicious too but at some point you get bored of it, it might be because of too much salt in it. Potatoes that are by default included in the dish were undercooked. A few pieces were hard to chew as if there were not cooked at all. I wouldn’t recommend to order crawfish as it’s tasteless and comes in very small pieces once you unpeeled it. Overall, a nice experience, we are the fans of seafood, but hopefully with another sauce and well cooked potatoes, we will be amazed by the...
Read moreThis was my second time coming. The first time was shortly after they opened and all the seafood was bland and tasteless. Happy to report it has gotten better but still room for improvement.
I got the seafood bag with shrimp, crab legs, and crawfish with medium heat with garlic and King sauce. The medium is what most people would consider mild - just slightly spicy. My husband got mild and he said there was NO spicy to his. My friend got hot as possible and said it wasn't at all hot.
The shrimp and crab legs were good. The crawfish is BAD and tasteless and I do not recommend. Pretty sure they boil everything in plain water and then add sauce and spice later so the crawfish really doesn't soak up any flavor. Not to mention, it's not crawfish season so those are definitely coming in frozen which will also effect the flavor.
Overall I was happy but will never be ordering the crawfish again unless they make some big changes and start boiling them in the seasoning. My best advice would be, if you order a seafood bag, to let it sit in the bag for an additional 5 to 10 minutes after they leave it at your table and continue to shuffle it around and mix all the sauce and spices and seafood. Let it really soak and get in there (since they aren't boiling it in a pot like that)
Other pros include that they have a lot of space so if you're a large family or group and need somewhere to go last minute then they usually can accomodate. Hard to find in San Diego on a...
Read moreWe came here for the first time and had good expectations because of the reviews and photos. We got the chicken wings (lemon pepper), cajun fries, and the special order which came with 3 pounds of crawfish, 3 potatoes and corn. We also added 1/2 pound black mussels and sausage with the “Juicy sauce” and medium spice. The fries and wings were really great and hot and fresh. We then waited about 30-45 mins for the crawfish to come out which we were fine with because we thought it was gonna taste good lmao. Then the crawfish came out looking really promising but when we tried it, it had no flavor at all. The sauce seemed watered down like they just took the crawfish out of the water and plopped it into the butter seasoning which separated the seasoning from the seafood. We asked for some more of the sauce on the side and it was really just oil or butter with barely any of the actual seasoning. So we asked for more of the seasoning and they also barely gave us any to cover 3 -1/2 pounds of seafood lol. So we decided to just take it home and season it more at home. Overall, service was good but the...
