Marine Layer has always been one of our favorite stores. The Columbus, Ohio location consistently delivers not only quality clothes but also exceptional customer service—so much so that we’ve built a genuine rapport with the staff there.
That’s why our recent experience at the Westfield location was such a disappointment. From the moment we walked in, the difference was glaring. It appeared that a new employee was being trained by a manager, but instead of setting an example of what Marine Layer is known for, the manager barely acknowledged us. We were greeted at the door, but after that, nothing. As we browsed, the manager walked past us without a single offer of assistance, and the overall atmosphere felt dismissive and unwelcoming.
What made this even more frustrating is that my husband and I were literally wearing Marine Layer clothing during our visit—a clear sign that we are loyal customers. We left and decided to spend our money elsewhere. To be treated with indifference by staff, especially management, was unacceptable and a sharp contrast to the high standard we’ve come to expect from the brand.
If this is the way new employees are being trained at this location, it’s concerning. Marine Layer has built its reputation on customer service as much as its product, and the Westfield store failed to uphold...
Read moreI am filling in to another store in this mall for work and stopped in after seeing something in the window that caught my eye. No one paid any attention to me and when I asked to try something on the fitting rooms were pointed to. I could hear that the woman in the room next to me was being offered other sizes being ordered, etc.. I tried on something that I liked, but needed in a size that wasn’t in stock I was told that it was okay that it didn’t fit me and to have a good night. I felt like I was being judged since I wasn’t dressed like the usual designer clientele, however, I work right around the corner and have no problem spending a portion of my paycheck on clothes that I like. Although I like the style of the clothes I will surely discourage anyone I talk to from patronizing such a pretentious brand, and I won’t consider even trying...

I entered the store and the young lady was busy texting on her phone, and never looked up, and I asked if the sale was over and she said yes, but there is some clearance items in the back, and pointing to the back all while not looking up from her phone. Another customer came and left without interaction, I left without purchasing anything, and without have a nice day. Most of the Marine Layer locations I have visited in NYC and Chicagoland have all been...
