I know first hand how wonderful "our lady of the Rosery church":is you see i moved here, to San diego about 1995 and I lived in a one room unit across the street from the parash I met Father Steve in 1996 during the same year i traveled back to the Bay Area Father Steve and Mary were the best people who always took the time to listen to me and offer a word of wisdom I know the time frame is what one would consider year's ago but to me it was placed on my heart to acknowledge my feelings towards people I am proud to say were my friends the nicest people you would ever Imagine wanting to meet, I kid you not, you could see the Glory of GOD in them both, Father Steve and Mary's continence would have a glow about it I loved them both and was deeply hurt when I heard of there passing it greaved me to this day that I was not able to show my appreciation of the kindness that was shown to me in my time of trouble, I am writing this letter with a sad heart in hopes someone will share the kindness that was also shown to them from God's 2 Angel's that this world had the opportunity to know and speak with, when I was told of there passing I was shocked so much that I would have visual Dreams of the "Father"well thank You "Father Steve," "and Thank You "Mary" so much And as Father Steve would always...
Read moreI attended the noon Mass on Oct 21 (all in Italian) and it was powerfully amazing (75th anniversary of Madonna Del Lume Festa). The church was packed & overflowing-standing room only all around the church on both side aisles and in the back. Thank you for putting the Italian readings and hymns in a booklet for those of us who are not fluent in Italian. If you are going to Little Italy in San Diego, you need to stop here. The historical and ethnic significance of this parish is very strong, especially if you have Italian descent and special appreciation for the power of the Rosary. The awesome ceiling and wall paintings (many of mysteries of the Rosary, for example Coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary on the ceiling is a prominent one--prominent painting of the Crucifixion of Jesus in front of the church near the ceiling), beautiful mystery of the Rosary stained glass windows (Glorious on one side, Joyful mysteries on the other), and inspiring statutes and paintings of many saints inside are well-worth it (I think my favorite one inside was of Our Blessed Mother Mary of the Seven Sorrows, with seven swords, one representing each...
Read moreI discovered this beautifully remodeled Catholic Church in the lovely neighborhood of Little Italy in San Diego when my husband and I went to visit our son. The church is stunning, the masses I attended were presented in a reverent manner. I went to daily mass three days and a Saturday vigil mass with my husband. The priests each delivered a good homily as well. The people of the parish were welcoming. The gift shop and the parishioners who run and manage it are knowledgeable about their merchandise and happy to help their patrons. The lovely woman who answers the parish office number was very helpful with my questions about parking and the logistics of "getting into the church" for daily mass as the front doors to the church are not open for daily mass. I would be sure to call the parish office before attending if you are coming from out of town so you get these helpful details. There is also a very sweet adoration chapel (again call the parish office for details) and an outdoor Mary garden area. You can hear Father's homily from this...
