Rama Thai is my go-to place for a massage in San Diego. I discovered this place through a friend who used to come here often when she lived in the area, and decided to give this place a try. I am so glad I did, because I absolutely love this place for its charm, great massages, and excellent service.
All of the therapists have their own specialty so just communicate what style you want and they will deliver. Sue is amazing at Thai massage and she will find all the knots and sore spots and make me feel so much better at the end. She is also very conscientious of breath work so she works around that really well. When I have an injury, she is mindful of that. Once I came in with a frozen shoulder and she healed me right back up after one massage.
Julia is excellent at giving Swedish and deep tissue massage. I rarely fall asleep during massages because I try not to waste the experience, but she got me feeling so relaxed and rejuvenated that it was hard to resist falling peacefully to sleep! She’s also got a very gentle yet firm hands, and I enjoyed every minute of her massage.
Recently I had the pleasure of getting a massage from Panitta, and she was a perfect combo of the two with her own style! I felt extremely relaxed, healed, and pampered during and after her massage, and she worked so thoroughly in the areas that I had trouble with. She checked in several times to make sure she was giving me the desired pressure and style. The facial and scalp massage at the end was the perfect finisher and I was so happy with my experience.
Overall, this place has become my safe and healing retreat from the busyness of city life (I live and work in downtown SD) and I am so blessed to have...
Read moreWorst experience. I gave the salon a chance to make up for it, but they never replied to my message. So I do need to share my negative experience here.
I had a horrible experience at your Little Italy location. I had booked a 2-hour massage to mainly get my back and shoulders worked on, because I am in a lot of pain there. The massage therapist first didn't know if I had 60, 90 or 120 minutes... was not really prepared. Then I said to mainly focus on my back. Strong deep pressure on my back and soft everywhere else. She was very rough on legs and arms and I asked again to do soft there. She kept stomping on my legs and I started twitching and pulling away because it was too painful. Her feet were callused and it felt like she was scratching my skin. I asked again to do soft on the legs and instead of using oil, lightly massaging with her hands, she kept stomping with her feet. Then she massaged my scalp without loosening my ponytail and so started to rip out my hair. And when I said I really needed more work on my back she totally ignored it and told me about a friend's place in Thailand I could stay at when I went next time. All the while my back and shoulders were almost completely ignored during this massage! I had actually started crying during the massage, because it was so bad and I almost felt violated. That woman should not massage anyone! I just paid and tried to get out of there. When I left the buidling I immediately googled for another massage place, because I still needed a back and shoulder massage real bad... but I gave up on it and decided to get a massage when I am back...
Read moreThe worst experience ever. I don’t like to give bad reviews and in fact I never did, but it’s been a month since my appointment and I still have bad aftertaste so here I go. I take Thai massages every week, I usually go to Linda Vista location which is outstanding but it was fully booked so I decided to try downtown. First of all my massage wasn’t Thai at all! I paid for something I truly dislike - very gentle massage, which doesn’t even get to a muscle, not to mention deep tissue. The therapist wasn’t Thai but I first thought that maybe she spend time in Asia and knows her moves - nope. She doesn’t. She also asked me about areas she should focus on and then never even bother to touch them - why she was asking in a first place then? The price was also higher than in my favorite location, but difference was very minor so I don’t consider it as much of an issue. The place was very cold, I had goosebumps entire hour. Just annoying experience I had to pay for. Overall: if you’re looking for Thai massage, it’s not a place, nor blonde lady is the person. Try...
