I absolutely love Pure Barre - Hillcrest . I've been to many different barre classes, but none are as tough and effective as Pure Barre. Although it is tough, it is somehow fun. The music helps you zone out and the instructors are always saying encouraging comments about how this is your time and to make it count. The classes is divided up into different sections, but you always do different moves so even if you go every day, you won't get bored. They also change up the music so that makes it super fun! I've been going to Pure Barre for years and the instructors are still implementing new exercises all the time.
I love the upbeat and positive vibes of this studio! The parking isn't bad (especially since it's Hillcrest) and the instructors and front desk ladies are super nice and helpful.
Also, if you are brand new to Pure Barre, stick with it! :) I promise you don't need any ballet experience. Also, I hated the first barre class I ever took (it wasn't Pure Barre) but now it's my very favorite workout!! And don't worry if your legs shake--they are supposed to! It's a good thing! I wish someone had said that to me after my first barre class. I felt like a shaking dummy! The shake zone is optimal so shake away, girl! Change...
Read moreIn my experience with barre, mats are pretty standard so it threw me off that they don’t really use mats during the workout. My knees were literally in pain afterwards because the flooring is so uncomfortable. I did really enjoy my instructor, Lindsay. She was motivating, helped to correct form, and her queues were great. But I just didn’t enjoy the class itself. I think perhaps the intro Engage class is too many different formats packed into too little time. Lastly, there was a lot of pressure to commit to a membership afterwards. When I was honest that I wanted to look around at some other studios before committing, the manager seemed really surprised, almost like she expected me to sign up right then. She also lied and said we could only get a discount off the membership if we signed up that day, but since then I’ve gotten multiple texts and emails offering the same discount. They just seemed super desperate to get me to sign up immediately and the energy felt a little off-putting. Anyways, I definitely don’t think Pure Barre is the right studio for me, but worth trying...
Read moreLove Pure Barre but this location is awful. I’ve attended several classes - none have started on time. I’m always early but have accepted the sometimes 10 minutes late start. On a weekend class, the instructor came to open the studio late (with her husband). She infomed they were running errands. Okay - that’s fine once in a while I suppose. Unprofessional but I accepted it. Other times the class has started typically 5-10 minutes late. Today I had signed up for the 11:30 AM class. Unable to find parking I was 30-60 seconds late to walk in the door and it was locked. Two others who had signed up were there as well trying to get into the class. The instructor could see us and shooed us away. Are you kidding?! I understand being on time but I’ve come to class and the instructor has been late, the door has been locked, the class started late time after time. You can’t have it both ways. I would not recommend...
