A little bit of background on my hair's previous state: keratin straightened 3C with instances of 4A mixed ethnicity hair that started thinning in heaps this past winter resultant of bereavement stress. Fast forward eight odd months later, I became tired of trying to save the sinking ship that was my hair and resolved to crop off the back, so I came across Shearology on a web search. I called on Wednesday 7/21 and scored an appointment for two days later. Friday came, and I was introduced to my stylist for the affair: Holly. All my life I've only ever trusted my mom and myself to make changes to my hair, so it was very unnerving to let a stranger do something as massive and irreversible as a cut and style. I'd often heard (and then had the exact experience during my first and last time at a salon when I was a teenager) that stylists will sometimes give you the style they envision, not what you want. That was how my mom explained away my bland hackjob of a hair cut that her stylist from the early eighties had given me circa 2008. I had went into that previous experience with dreams of a Rihanna good-girl-gone-bad bob, but left looking like a six-year-old all polished up for sunday school, which was the complete antithesis of punk. So with that memory from thirteen years prior in the back of my mind, the present-day nerves were warranted. Coming back to the present, those past hair traumas began to dissolve during the consultation. Both Holly and the salon's owner (I think) were present as I showed them a blend of photos to explain what I wanted, and they understood exactly that it was a nape-length stacked bob with piecey-ness that I was after. I felt a lot more certain that I'd actually leave with what I wanted, so the dry cutting officially began. As Holly cut, she informed me on how to achieve the textured/piecey look I was after (this salon sells a Hair Taffy product that has made me a bit less fearful of wax/pomade products.) About twenty minutes later, the scissors were down and my hair looked alive again. I had even went out on a limb and trusted her to clean up my beloved 2000s Myspace Emo side bangs which even I myself am forbidden to cut; her strategic cutting managed to make them beautifully taller!! I left the shop feeling really good about my new style, but after doing my own wash, blowout and straighten at home, I was officially a permanent resident on cloud nine. Even without anything but my standard heat protectant serum in it, every layer was defined and perfectly graduated, my hair was as thick as it was tall, and best of all it had its movement and bounce back! Holly is new to Shearology, but she absolutely nailed my hair vision to the point where I woke up this morning in legit love with my bedhead. I was able to wake up, just run a metal comb through it to fluff, and go! It's amazing how my hair got progressively more perfect overnight. My experience at Shearology has managed to successfully overwrite that previous hair butchering of my youth that gave me a mistrust of stylists. They pulled my vision out of my head and put it ON my head flawlessly, and I couldn't be more grateful to be feeling organically beautiful again...
Read moreAVOID this hair salon ladies!!! I thought based on the good reviews That I had read that I could trust one of these ladies with my hair.WRONG! I was extremely wrong. MALORY is her name AVOID this woman! She did my hair I started with a solid dark brown color and I went in asking her to gradually turn me into an ash blonde because even I know dark brown to blonde doesn’t happen with 1 visit. So I expected her to be a normal stylist and bleach my entire hair and tone it to something decent. But she decides to take me in for all my money and go about this a different route. She tells me that she rather do highlights all over my hair to start off with then gradually go blonde. And I being a naive woman who is not a professional hair stylist trusted her with my HAIR AND MY MONEY.(being as she’s supposed to be the professional here) So I let her do highlights. On the next visit she tells me that she’s going to do more highlights to get me to a solid blonde. However she left me with ash tones warm tones,ORANGE PATCHES extremely brassy.and on top of that she didn’t even do my roots! My roots were left with blotches of Black all throughout sections of my hair. My final result leaving her salon was EXTREMELY unprofessional. Orange brass, golden blonde, ash blonde black patches and streaks! I asked her about a refund and she said NO! I obviously wanted my money back because I no longer trust her with my hair! Oh and let’s not forget she BURNED off the sides of my hair!!! They are now SHORTER than a bobs length!!! Avoid this salon!!! And avoid this woman!! Thanks to her I now have to take my maternity pictures with an orange head and tacky hair! She didn’t even fix the mess she left me with!!! I will definitely be telling everyone about this terrible experience I also have the pictures so I will definitely be warning people about her and showing them my hair pictures! I’ll be glad to display these terrible results/pictures to anyone that asks me as long as it potentially saves someone’s hair! & money! She is also a liar I specifically asked her for a refund and she denied me becareful with this woman ladies she will lie to you to get your MONEY and then she will go the owner to KEEP her JOB! I posted the screenshots of her response ! Yet she tells the owner a different story! Very unprofessional i will make sure people in San Diego know to Avoid her and this salon or at least until...
Read moreHello, greetings and Hi. Our experience with Shearology Salon (esp Darlene) was amazing yet shocking. We searched numerous places for our 13 year old daughter for about a week ( maybe even more ). Upon calling Shearology, we were referred to a stylist named Darlene. Callilng her, I/we were shocked that she was willing and able to make an appointment that same day with our daughter and to meet us there at Shearology Salon. From the time we arrived there at the Salon from the time we left, I/we were amazed with all the information Darlene provided to us (and I mean alot of beneficial info), how professional and how much patience Darlene had with us, how much knowledge not only did Darlene provide for us but mainly Christina our 13 year old (and anyone out there who has a teen ESP a 13 year old knows how their attention span can wander... Our 13 yr old listened attentively and to this day has applied all that she learned from Darlene) and overall how much effort and time Darlene put into our daughter "has lifted our daughter's confidence" , and with that I/WE can not thank you enough. I highly recommend Darlene to anyone who is looking/searching/inquiring about a stylist OR even Shearlogy Salon if you're looking for a quality salon. We will definitely Be Back..... Angela & Cindi (and...
