I'm a 44 Y/O Male, and naturally I'm losing my hair. I had read that hair restoration technology had leapt and bounded (Neograft) and Dr. Tim Sayed is not only an exceptional surgeon - he's an artist. For those reasons alone, I elected a Neograft procedure with Dr. Sayed and my experience has been tremendous.

PREPARATION: The entire front room staff engaged me patiently (pardon the pun) extensively for weeks leading up to the procedure. Although the procedure is under local anesthetic and you're back to business within a matter of days (I took work calls during my procedure, not kidding), like you'd expect I wanted to align my expectations accordingly. The service leading up to the procedure was stellar.

FACILITY: their La Jolla location (they are in Newport Beach too) is pristine. A beautiful plaza and the second you walk into their clinic, it felt more like I had arrived at a resort. The hospitality and sheer commitment to my comfort was palpable. Every single clinician followed COVID protocols for my sake (this procedure takes much of the day). I became best friends with the entire staff who waited on me hand-and-foot all day. You even get a lunch break and let me tell you - one of the best sandwiches I've ever had!

THE PROCEDURE: you can watch countless YouTube clips on Neograft/Hair transplants (I recommend you book a consult with Dr. Tim Sayed) so I will tell you what I learned - it's all under local anesthetic so you're up the whole time and it might look invasive but you are just fine. They harvest the hair from what I call the Peter side of your head, and cultivate them like experts to feed the Paul side (in my case, I wanted to explore a more resolute hairline and fill in my waning temples).

THE AESTHETIC: a hair transplant involves so many factors, but the one element that requires someone at the top of their trade is the COSMETIC angle. What kind of hairline would look natural and non-contrived? Dr. Tim Sayed was involved in the entire process (from design to bidding me farewell) and I'm very pleased.

POST OP: You get plenty of meds (anti-bio, pain for swelling, saline spray to help with the itchiness) for your post op care. Dr. Sayed's staff continue to check up on me and my welfare.

PROGNOSIS: Hair transplants take time to bear fruit (few months of growth and shedding), and research indicates that months 9-12 are where you see your bang for your follicles.

I first found Dr. Sayed through an online Breast Implant Illness network. He was one of just a few surgeons recommended for breast explant surgery, and I was so lucky that he had an office in my area (San Diego), as many plastic surgeons do not regularly perform explant surgeries. I had been suffering with horrible symptoms ranging from dizziness, rashes, severe breast pain and heart palpitations in the years after having breast implant surgery, and it was likely the implants were to blame.

From the start, Dr. Sayed and his staff were incredibly responsive and accommodating. His coordinator Christine got back to me within one day of requesting a consultation and I was able to be seen the next week. Dr. Sayed was attentive, and validated many of my concerns with my implants. He was very knowledgeable and gave me a very detailed explanation of my options for explant, and the pros/cons of each option. He walked me through each step of the surgery in detail, as well as what to expect in the post operative period. Never at any time did I feel pressured to make a hasty decision and I felt that I was given ample time to ask as many questions as needed to. Ultimately, I chose to do the implant removal with a breast lift, as well as a fat transfer to the breast. The fat transfer was done by using fat from my lower abdomen. I was pleased that this was an option as I was initially concerned about losing all of the volume of the breast after explant.

Now that I am fully healed, I can say that I am 100% happy with my results and I am so thankful to Dr. Sayed and his team. I no longer am suffering from anymore BII symptoms which is a huge relief and my breasts look great, if not better than they did with implants. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone else who is looking to get their implants removed!

I also wanted to mention that Dr. Sayed and his team have great post-operative care and follow-ups. I felt that they went the extra mile after I developed some keloid scarring on part of one of my breasts, and was able to get a series of Kennalog steroid injections to flatten and smooth the scars. I went to Dr. Sayed for Enbloc breast implant removal, as he was highly recommended by the Breast Implant Illness Facebook group. I am thrilled with my results, and so grateful for him and his team. This is a much more complex surgery than implantation, and I wanted to go to a trusted surgeon. I’m so happy I did! I’m happily surprised by how aesthetically pleasing my results are given the surgery is not necessarily oriented towards that - I absolutely love the way I look now and I know it’ll only continue to get better!
