What a beautiful building! It’s a lot unlike the other boxes in the skyline; its facade has lots of ‘ridges’ (I think that’s how I would describe it). Apparently it’s supposed to evoke the jagged rock formations of the Sierra Nevada. Very pretty brown granite that looks even warmer during sunset. It made a good pair with the Transamerica Pyramid for 50-ish years.
Although it’s not as iconic as the Pyramid and the Salesforce Tower, the property is still worth visiting and admiring. Some things to see around the building is the Batter Bakery stand, the Concourse, the Vault, and the ICA SF contemporary art exhibit. You can also hang around the large steps of the building or the small garden area with benches, and a monument called the Banker’s Heart sits near the front of the building as well.
I think this building is under appreciated considering how it was one of the first in San Francisco to breach such a height, and to this day it remains among the four tallest buildings in the city. Not to mention that it’s in such a nice spot- super close to Chinatown and right beside California, where the cable car runs! Please visit this building if you’re interested, I want others to show it some...
Read moreGreat tree lighting ceremony. Great concert by the Doobie Brothers. But, why only $160,000 given to Ronnie Lott's foundation? Compared to claims of greatness by the guy that owns the building (prime real estate and fancy to boot) there should have been another zero at the end. Now THAT would have been impressive. Instead of touting the size of your tree, which in all fairness is to be re used thankfully, you could have touted a much more substantial donation. 160k puts ONE kid through 4 years of college at an ivy league school. That's simply not enough. But, a fun evening seemed to...
Read moreThe security team and the management for the security team is the worse ever I had to work there. The team does not care about the safety for the people that work there or visit the building. There is one guard that works the morning shift and the swing shift on the ramp on the pine street side he loves to get into it with visitors or the people that work there as well. If you get to know any of the guards that work there will let pass with out using your building badge or show the vositor pass...
