I made a reservation for a vehicle at Alamo (two months in advance) at the San Francisco branch located in Fisherman’s Warf. On October 24, 2023, at the scheduled time, I attended this branch. Unfortunately, from the beginning we were very unwelcome at the service desk. We were treated with disdain, in a rude and unfriendly way. We were treated with grumbling and impatience throughout practically the entire service, with employees speaking as quickly as possible so that it was impossible to understand a single word of what was said. Only to receive that disapproving look if you asked for the courtesy of repeating what had been said. Anyway, professionalism and cordiality are expected, but no one is obliged to smile at customers at 8:30 in the morning, especially when they clearly hate their job. The biggest issue was when they began to doubt about the authenticity of my license and compare it to my wife's, even though I had been an Alamo customer for almost 15 years. The person who served us was extremely rude. When I noticed her confusion, I tried to explain that the license models were different because the format and layout of the document had undergone an update in my country of origin, and my license was the old model and my wife's was the new model. Unfortunately, she didn't give me the chance to clarify what had happened, ignoring any attempt I made to clarify the situation and just continuing to talk to her colleague next door. Finally, after a thorough and detailed inspection of my 30+ year old drivers license, Alamo employees decided that my documents were real, and I was capable of driving a car. There is no problem in checking clients' documents, in fact that is what is expected. But this doesn't need to be done in such an inappropriate way as it was done, arguing with her colleague about my suitability, as if I weren't standing in front of her. This treatment made me want to go to the Hertz store two blocks away. As I didn't give any reason for being so poorly served, I can only imagine that this employee has some type of prejudice towards customers from certain countries. When collecting the vehicle, we were well attended by a very polite and friendly lady, however, as has happened on other occasions when I rented cars from Alamo, the car I had reserved was not available. In this case, not even the similar one was available. I received an upgrade to a more luxurious car, but much smaller than the one I had reserved. This ended up causing me inconvenience because I booked a large car and received a small car, and I had lots of suitcases. As the trunk was very small, I was forced to leave lots of things in the back seat of the car, which is very dangerous in San Francisco. Anyway, it would be great if Alamo started training their employees better, so maybe they would start to be a little more friendly when serving their customers, especially foreigners visiting the US, as unfortunately this is not the first time that I am mistreated at an Alamo counter. And finally, I hope to one day get the car I reserved, at least a similar one. There is no point in pushing a bigger or more luxurious car if that car does not meet the...
Read moreThis must be the worst car rental agency there is. Car already booked in February via sunny cars and also paid. We wanted to pick up the car for a 17 day tour of California after 4 days in San Francisco. Unfortunately my wallet was stolen with my driver's license in it. Fortunately I still had a credit card and my wife's driver's license. However, we did not get the car because the credit card name and driver's license name must be the same. The lady behind the counter called Vicky tolerated no exceptions and no shreds of sympathy with us. nothing could be done about it, goodbye. We even called sos number of sunny cars. The lady on the phone tried to talk to Vicky for an exception or a cash bale or a bale via sunny cars. No, said Vicky, no exceptions allowed. We are now back home in the Netherlands and have had to cancel all hotels and AIRBNB appointments and have requested a rebook via United Airlines and therefore have to travel home 16 days earlier! Not seen anything from Beautiful California, thanks to Alamo and Vicky. Never rent here, they do not know service and exceptions here. The costs are also for my own account, now I also have to make sure that I still get the money back from my not rented car. Never...
Read moreI didn't rent from this location, but I returned my Alamo car rental at this location. To return the car, you would drive up to the top floor of the parking garage, they have signs all the way, displayed very clearly, so just follow the sign/instructions. Then there are spots marked for car returned. As soon as I parked at a spot, an employee approached me and start doing the inspection. The returned processed took ~1-2 minutes. Very hassle free! Then I got the email receipt right away with no any additional surcharge! Love this quick return process. Would use this facility again!
I used the bay area toll bridge, but I pre-registered the license plate on Bay Area FasTrak website, and indicate the start and end time of when I'll be using the toll bridge/road, the toll charge appears in my credit card account after ~5 days, so I expect I won't receive any additional charge from Alamo for toll. Totally would recommend anyone planning on using the roll in the bay area to pre-register the license plate Bay Area...
