Kokak Chocolates — Local services in San Francisco

Kokak Chocolates is a work in progress. When I first went to their location in the fall they were offering a limited menu. Now, almost a year in they have a better selection of products. Sadly Kokak is one of a handful of chocolate shops in San Francisco. It’s definitely a drying art.

Kokak offers about 25 different molded chocolates. They also have a selection of items that are special order only.

Their chocolates need some work. They are currently all the same size and shape. The designs look cool, but they are all standard transfer sheet designs. I’d love to see some brushed designs, different shapes, and maybe even some free form truffles. The chocolates I received tasted good, but they had imperfections. They were not flat on the bottom and there were small air bubbles.

The prices are what I’d expect for chocolates in San Francisco. They are about $3 each. But I’d rather go to Christopher Elbow for more creative and refined chocolates.

Let’s see what Kokak...

Learned about Kokak Chocolates from my boss. Many of the truffles and chocolates focus on tropical and Asian flavors. They also have hot chocolate and champorado.

I had their classic champorado today as a rainy day treat. It was delicious! It was chocolaty and thick. I liked the coconut and these crispies that added a nice texture. The portion was just right. It looks small at first but the rice is filling. Any bigger and I would’ve been stuffed.

I’ve had their hot chocolate and truffles before and they’re so yummy! The truffles are a lot of flavor in a bite.

The space has bar seating and a few tables. And everyone there is so nice! Definitely check this place out for delicious chocolates for yourself...

I had a bit of sticker shock initially as these are quite pricey, but then I tasted them and they really are super delicious and interesting truffles! There are lots of tasty and unique flavors, the pistachio strawberry one was so good! The only thing that I would personally want different would be: I don’t like the use of artificial colors, which I understand are necessary to make the cool designs on the top of the truffle, but it would be cool if there was an option to just have them “blank” if you will 😊 All in all though very delicious treats and I’m thoroughly enjoying going through my box of truffles...
