Had a really poor experience at this store where the owner is not interested in selling a record that caught my eye. I recognized a particular record that meant a lot to me and it happened to be on a pile that he hadn’t priced. When I ask how much he wanted for it he gave a long story about how he hadn’t gotten to pricing that pile of 500 odd records. I clarified if it was a bulk sale, he said no. So I asked if he could just price this one record. He asked me to leave my contact info. A two second google search would reveal it was worth $5.99 and he could have asked me $20 for all I cared. The story and randomness of finding it mattered to me more and I explained my excitement to him, and was more less quite positive and friendly to him. But the owners attitude got in the way. He seemed a bit peeved and that I picked up a record from a pile (quite visibly displayed) that was forbidden to be browsed. In addition to that, his lack of motivation to make a sale and focus on his idiosyncratic behavior of not wanting to move a merchandise he didn’t yet find time to “price” goes to show the kind of passive aggressive attitudes that seem to permeate such spaces. I used to DJ house music in Baltimore and I have been to record stores from Amsterdam to Chicago to Tokyo and never have I ever encountered such pointless unfriendliness. Been meaning to stop by this place for quite some time as I live out of town. When I finally did, I was the only customer at first, then shortly after 2 friends of the owner stopped by and all of them decided to smoke weed inside the shop, making it unbearable to shop because of the smell, and because I am a sober person. Sadly I had to leave shortly after I had just started browsing. Maybe have some consideration for the customers shopping in the store...
