Super disappointing experience here.
Wandered in on a Monday night because I was in the neighborhood and my intended destination was closed. It was happy hour still and my friend was craving Italian food, so we were psyched.
We were seated immediately, right next to the open door, on a drafty and breezy evening. The server didn't offer to close the door, and while the temperature ended up being ok, it would have been a nice gesture to offer. We then sat, for nearly 15-20 minutes, without any sign of a server to welcome us, give recommendations, or take an order.
Eventually our server arrived and we each ordered the happy hour wine, her white, me red. The wine arrived and the red was positively corked. It smelled stringent, it tasted like vinegar, and the color was slightly off. I asked the server about it, saying it tasted funky and did she know if that was intended or if the wine was off. She poured herself some from the same bottle and told me it was fine, then told me I could have something else, and pointed me towards other wines on the menu. I wasn't convinced the wine was good, but ok. I would have at least expected an apology or offering to lower the price of another glass to the happy hour price, but she completely stood by it, and instead, offered me a class over twice the price. I settled for the happy hour white instead. After the wine fiasco, we ordered a margherita pizza and the burrata and asparagus dish.
Margherita pizza: 3-stars. A decently sized pizza, roughly 12", with fresh basil and mozzarella. Absolutely fine, unremarkable, nothing to write home about margherita pizza.
Burrata: 2-stars. The plate was absolutely covered in parsley, to the point of almost being offensive. There was nearly no burrata underneath the 4-5 asparagus stalks and the entire dish was slightly watery, then showered in breadcrumbs at the ends of the plate. I would have liked a nice, creamy pile of burrata complemented by asparagus with a light dusting of parsley instead of this puddled mess.
Despite the fact that other tables had bread and butter, we didn't receive any. I requested bread and it was brought, but without any butter or olive oil. I don't know if the service was poor because of the wine incident, or just because that's the norm, but all in all, I felt disappointed in spending my money here. On the bright side, thanks to happy hour, four glasses of wine, a pizza, and the starter only came to $54 before tip.
I definitely won't be...
Read moreThis was my first visit to Uva Enoteca since Antonio took over ownership a bit over a year ago. It was fantastic from start to finish!! I don't live in the neighborhood, and wish it was in my own neighborhood, as it would be my "local." I was warmly greeted by Antonio and enjoyed a glass of lovely wine while I waited for my friends to arrive. The descriptions of the food were all so mouth watering that we ordered a variety of starters, pastas and pizzas, as well as desserts. This food is made from the heart, and is centered around region of Italy that Antonio is from...Puglia. The flour used in the bread, pasta and pizza is from the region, healthier and more delicious. Some menu items are his mother's recipes. The flavors are subtle, and you can tell that the food is made with care. The staff is friendly, efficient and in fact, delightful. The wine selections are excellent and the options are explained beautifully by the staff. The music playing sets the mood for a totally enjoyable evening. We could easily hear each other speak, which we appreciated. And there are both tables and a bar (where single diners can comfortably enjoy a meal). A big thank you to Antonio and team for a great experience, amazing food & wine, and for creating such a warm and welcoming...
Read moreThe food was okay! I think maybe if we had time to actually chew our food it would have been more enjoyable!
Our server was extremely rude and his only mission was to rush us through our meal.
We get it...we are in the midst of a pandemic! However, this isn't the best way to run a business!
Right off the bat when you are seated your server will immediately notify you that you are on a timer...one hour! Maybe you should advise your guests at the time the reservation is being made that there is a time limit of 1 hour and your food will be rushed and practically thrown at you!.
Worst pandemic outing I have experienced. Most restaurants are happy to have customers back instead of making you feel like you are on a limited amusement park ride!
We sat down ordered and our food was literally and forcefully put on the table within minutes. When more food arrived (concurrently) the server basically pulled plates and unfinished dishes out of our hands! When our order had been fully delivered to our table by the sever. The server advised forcefully..okay guys another party is waiting and slapped our ticket on the table...Wowza!!
Worst experience ever with a hefty price tag to be...
