Ginger Market — Local services in San Jose

I love the variety of Japanese import coffee, snacks and food that they have! Great variety, alright prices, and great location (imbedded into MacQuarrie hall). Some of the staff are really friendly, but some are kind of cold (i guess expected with college students).

Unfortunately, the prices have increased quite a bit year over year (coffee that used to be $1 is now $2.50). Also, this store was an experiment at a fully automated "seamless" checkout experience, but it seems that this has failed, and it's just a regular store now. The ceiling has around 20 security cameras that were used for this, which is pretty funny to...

A cashier with a beard (his face is pudgy) kept ordering me around in moving the merchandise for the bar code. "Stretch out the bag" or "move the snacks so that I can scan them."

Its getting annoying because he's been doing this to me TWICE. He doesn't even bother grabbing the items with his hands.
