This place was 5 stars about two years ago. Not sure what happened. Two of three drink machines are broken. The biggest issue here is the price and customer service. Itās right by the SJSU campus but isnāt affordable for students. The place is empty for lunch on a Friday. They have 4 guys cooking and one lady ringing up customers. Bathrooms are locked so donāt forget to ask for a code when you arrive. Lots of surfboards and photos around the restaurant. They deliver thru door dash, so get ready for the fees to pile up. Outside seating is available and about 20 booths inside with another private party area.
Cleanliness needs some work. Under the booths, it looks like they just wipe the crumbs from the table under it and leave it. (Photo attached).
The pizza is REALLY good. Itās thin. So it flops around a bit. I normally get the pep and sausage and a random other specialty. All the slices are good. Canāt lie.
Customer service is lacking because they donāt bring your pizza to the table. Donāt give you napkins. Itās all on you. Thereās no personal touch to this place. Then youāre asked for a tip at the point of sale station. Iām not sure if thatās because they arenāt paid properly but itās odd because no service is provided at all here. They also seem to have a turnover issue because itās never the same people working here.
Bottom line, they need a lunch special. Paying $23 for 2 slices and a small drink is absurd. This is a place you order from for a company event. Itās not a place to stop by weekly.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreThinking about an experience I had here during an anime convention in 2023. I came here with my friends after going to the con, and each one of them was given an extra free slice of pizza. We were all in cosplay, so I assume that was the reason. However, when it was my turn, the server didn't say a single word to me, and didn't give me a free slice. Whatever, guess she didn't like my cosplay-- I shook it off. Her death glare made it hard.
My one slice of pizza took over 20 minutes to prepare (whereas my friends got theirs in less than 10) and I only got it when I went and asked for it. The employee then went to the back and returned with the server who originally helped me, holding a soggy piece of pizza that fell apart when I tried to eat it. It was literally inedible, and I'm not picky at all. My friends' slices weren't like that. I returned it, and after another 15 minutes, a different employee brought out a normal piece of pizza.
Look, I don't care that I didn't get a free slice. But what about me made this server give me death glares? Not say a single word to me? Give my friends free slices but not me? It makes me think my slice was soggy on purpose. I don't know what I did to this person but she obviously has some unresolved issues that she should stop taking out...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been to Pizza My Heart a couple times now. I consider myself a big pizza fan, and I can get pretty excited about certain pizza places. I'm lucky in my hometown to have a large variety of different style pizza joints. There's one kind though that I feel is under represented and that's why I love visiting San Jose. I get excited for Pizza by the Heart because of a couple main things. The first thing I enjoy about this place is the size of the slices. These things are huge, and I think the average person can get a good meal with one slice, but you really need more than just one! The other thing I especially like about Pizza by the Heart is how messy these slices can be. You'll have grease dripping down your fingers, dripping down your chin.. it's a mess. I love it though, a huge greasy slice of pizza. Some might have an issue with the amount of grease or mess you get with these slices, but I love it.. many others do, this place can get pretty busy. I'm a creature of habit and always get the same type of pizza, so I can safely say pepperoni is good. The other flavours you'll have to see for yourself. One star deducted because it's really tough to do a perfect pizza. 4 stars is...
