Boba Bar — Restaurant in San Jose

I've been here twice with some friends. I definitely recommend getting the garlic fries. Most cafes and restaurants that serve garlic fries don't do garlic fries right, but the Boba Bar garlic fries doesn't just put garlic on top of regular fries, no the Boba Bar's garlic fries is bursting with delicious garlicky goodness. You will have garlic breath after eating them, so maybe not a good idea to eat them on a first date. The popcorn chicken is nothing extraordinary, it's like any other popcorn chicken, but the sauce. I believe it is called "dynamite sauce". It pairs beautifully with the popcorn chicken and garlic fries. The sauce combined with the garlic fries is an explosion of flavor. I thought their taro milk tea was just standard, nothing amazing. It was just a pleasant taro milk tea. I also tried the honeydew green tea lemonade with lychee jelly. I think it is a nice drink, but it's a tad too sweet. My friend ordered the lychee green tea lemonade with rainbow jelly and they also agreed that their drink tastes great, but the sweetness is a little too much. Fruit tea shouldn't be too sweet, or else it just tastes like juice. I thought their garlic noodles lacked flavor and were overpriced. If the meat wasn't an add-on and came with the noodles, maybe the noodles wouldn't be so bland? This isn't related to the quality of food and drink that the Boba Bar provides, however, I think the music is too loud because it is hard to hear what the cashier is saying that's really one thing I don't like about the Boba Bar. I’m only choosing 1 star rating because there’s no 0 star rating. Google has never bothered to put a 0 star rating option but one sip of this boba and the owner and founder of Google would personally apologize to the world and finally add a 0 star button. I came in excited because the place looked fabulous and had been craving boba for a week and left feeling like I’d just been scammed, there was literally no one else there yet it still took them 15 minutes to hand me a cup of regret. What were they doing? Brewing the tea with existential dread? No they were just on their phones, probably googling “how to ruin boba” and when I finally did get my drink, the boba was crunchy. YES CRUNCHY like did they cook it in an air fryer? And the milk tea was so diluted yet bitter it left a starchy aftertaste in my mouth. My tongue filed a complaint. Do yourself a favor walk past this disaster and head to Pizza My Heart right by it. Get a soda, get a napkin, get a fork or lick the floor but don’t go to that...

I order from here regularly, as it is the only boba place with non-fried food that delivers to my place. It is soooo frustrating because they are so inconsistent. Half of the time they forget the boba straws or put in the thin straws instead of the boba ones. Recently, they forgot the sauce for the vermicelli noodles (not really edible without it). Multiple times they forget the condiments for the gyoza so I stopped ordering those. I’d say something is wrong on 2 out of every 3 orders.

I tried ordering the salads, but it is just meat with lettuce (other ingredients listed on door dash not included). The chicken curry is good, but I dont order the other chicken dishes bc the meat quality is not good (probably not as noticeable in a sauce, but on its own it shows). I have generally had better luck with the beef (beef vermicelli, beef and kimchi rice bowl).
