I tried calling to San Jose office five times last Friday.... End up in a merry-go-round voicemails that put you on hold then start ringing a line that no one answers then put you back on hold and then eventually inform you no one's available please try again later and hangup on the caller.... Unsuccessfully spent almost 3 hours trying to speak to someone to no avail.... Same happened to me trying to contact the Sacramento office a few days prior same identical voicemail system a merry go round loop the loop taking about half an hour each time to eventually be informed no one is available to help... I initially started by calling the main office I'm guessing is in Washington....... That phone system is even worse from get go they tell you there's OVER a 120 minute wait time..... I have screenshots where twice I waited over 3 hours on hold never got to speak anybody first time and message came out told me the office was now closed to try again tomorrow.... The second time after 3 hours waiting I just hung up....
PRESIDENT 47 ISSUED AN EXECUTIVE ORDER 2ND DAY IN OFFICE "FOR ALL FEDERAL EMPLOYEES TO RETURN TO WORK"! AFTER HE WAS INFORMED THAT 93% OF EMPLOYEES HAVEN'T RETURNED THE OFFICE SINCE THE COVID DAYS 4 YEARS AGO.... WHATS REALLY GOING ON?
My situation is really simple I activated my retirement in December.... After receiving a letter every year for the past few years informing me that I was eligible and listening my income throughout my entire life..... So another words.... They already know I'm eligible they're the ones that kept informing me.... Here it is almost 2 months after I activated my retirement benefits... And Nothing.... Despite the fact they informed me I'd receive a letter within 30 days as to the activation of my retirement benefits.... Nothing at all received or noted in my online SSA account.....
In today's digital age all of this is completely unacceptable....
I can understand disability benefits because that involves documentation ....proof.... Dr exam results etc etc etc in order to arrive at an eligibility decision... Which to my understanding is taking approximately 9 months on average.....
And already documented ready to go retirement benefits.... Should be a simple as pressing the green button within the social Security office to begin...
Read moreHad to visit the Social Security office this week and decided to arrive at the downtown San Jose office on First Street without an appointment. I arrived closer to 2:00 pm on a Tuesday. There is parking across the street on Second Street which is not too expensive. However, during normal business hours, parking spots are limited.
You need to clear the airport style security before you are allowed to enter the Social Security office on the second floor. There were three agents and no other customers in line when I arrived. Unfortunately for me, I wore the wrong blouse, jeans, and shoes that day because the security agent kept waving his hand scanner over me, specifically over my top area which was highly uncomfortable. Lesson learned should there be a next time I need to visit, watch for buttons, zippers, and adornment on the shoes that may cause a delay in clearing security.
I was in the Social Security office for approximately one hour to complete my business. I could not complain about the wait time. The Social Security customer service agent was extremely polite and friendly, I was pleasantly surprised that he made small talk while he was helping me. Nowadays many agents reflect a discontent with their job and it shows when they attend to clients. I would definitely visit this office again should I need to...
Read moreI have had to make frequent visits since a scammer claimed my social security benefits before I even reached my official retirement age. This is a federal building so You have to line up outside in the breezeway to go through security. If you have an appointment make sure you get in the appointment line because it moves faster. Also make sure you don't bring anything in your purse that is considered dangerous like small sharp scissors, corkscrew or the like as they will make you leave and take it far away from the entrance . They have allowed me to bring in my short plastic knitting needles (smaller than a pen) which helps to pass the long wait times. Also make sure you bring plenty of ID with you. . There is always a long line at the beginning of the day so I've found it best to go in later in the day like around 11 am or even later. I ride my bicycle and I have to lock it up outside the breezeway which makes me nervous about theft so I strip everything of value off the bike before I leave home on the days I visit this office. Once you go through security at the entrance, you go up to the second floor where there is a ticketing system to sign into at the beginning of your visit so that you get seen by the right person in a fairly timely manner. The people who work there have always been polite...
