I'd give a 0-star review if possible. FOOD WAS DELIVERED.
It's the worst 25$ I ever spent. Ordered through the site DoorDash. The site itself handled my order efficiently and professionally. With that, and the glowing reviews on Yelp for Whispers, I looked forward to my lunch!
Alas, it was in vain. My side of fruit was a larger portion size than the main entree - a crepe. The crepe itself was stuffed mercilessly with half-raw vegetables with no condiments or taste profile. I had to chow it down like a cow, unmindful of the taste. It was only 4-5 bites. So was not the biggest struggle. What could have potentially saved this disaster was my iced coffee. What I had specified as "extra sugar" was effected as ZERO sugar, much to my chagrin. Net result : lunch = iced-bitters + bland uncooked-veggies + unsatiated appetite. To put my appetite into perspective, a typical entree-size crepe lasts 1.5-2 meals for me. (For more specific reference, consider a Crepevine crepe size).
I really don't get how a restaurant so well-reviewed by those who dined in can screw up a home delivery order, so bad! Much to my misfortune, I had ordered 2 meals together (my lunch and dinner). I'm putting away dinner, dreading the thought of digesting another similar experience.
After-note: the second entree - a mushroom sandwich - wasn't bad. Calmed me sufficiently to amp up the review rating from...
Read moreFor Mother’s Day, I brought my mother, my mother-in-law and my fiancée for brunch. I only leave a review if the service is either exceptional or a very disappointing one, and this experience was utterly terrible. I was very disappointed with their service as it was my first and last visit here. During our visit, we were waiting in line like everyone else, however my mother in law has disability and can’t stand on her feet as she uses a cane to walk and if she stands for some period of time her feet starts to get swollen. I took initiative to respectfully introduce myself to the manager and asked for accommodations just for my mother-in-law to sit on one of many seats that are available however the manager yelled at my face and said it’s a policy that they don’t have anyone sit on any available seats until we order. I understand that a rule is a rule and I don’t mind getting a seat until I order my food, however I was hoping to see some humility from the manager of this establishment, but I was very disappointed and upset. Sometimes you have to choose your battles and I remained calm and just assured my family that we’ll have a table soon. Nonetheless, If it was up to me I would’ve left on the spot and wouldn’t have tolerated this mockery of a manager who does not have any compassion nor customer...
Read moreFood was superb, but the coffee was disappointing. Tried the regular coffee and "espresso". Regular coffee was totally acceptable: light "diner-style" coffee that washes down breakfast nicely without wrecking your palate. The espresso, however, was terrible. It was very watered down: slightly stronger than the regular coffee. I sent it back hoping it was a fluke and the replacement was the same. I even checked and they are making it on a real espresso machine, so perhaps the procedure is off (grind size, weight, water to bean ratio, or machine setup). I still paid for it because of the honest effort to make it right and I did drink it for the caffeine.
The food was truly excellent (had a Florentine benedict with potatoes and a fruit crepe). The benedict was a good portion with perfectly cooked eggs and the crepe was one of the best I've had. I love how the fruit crepe is only sweetened by the fruit and a light drizzle of honey allowing the crepe itself to shine.
The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because this is a cafe and if you offer espresso, it should attempt to match the superior quality of the food. I believe this can be fixed with a little research and an afternoon of...
