I read about this place in the Metro, who noted that it was a Black Owned business. Wanting to support them, we drove over, (found a parking spot after driving around the block twice), and saw the bright, beautiful exterior right away. There was a line of 2 couples, (outside), in front of us and a line of 2 people inside., (spaced apart). After 10 minutes, someone came out and the 1st couple went in. After another 5 minutes, the couple in front of us gave up and left. After another few minutes, someone left and we were able to go in. It was unclear where to order. Soon, a smiling, young Black woman from behind the counter, came over and asked to help us. I explained that it was our first time there. She happily told us about their most popular drinks. The Birthday Cake sounded good, but really sweet; so I asked just for something with caramel in it. The woman helping us was one of the owners, so I told her that we came out specifically to support her. She didn't seem to think anything of that and explained that she owns it with her sister, who was towards the back. The space is really cute, lively techno music and laughter. The "barista" called out a name, but the only other person there waiting said that wasn't her. She called out the name again, but there wasn't another person waiting. The lady waiting went up and reminded the barista of her order and it was determined that it WAS her coffee; but they had the wrong name. We continued to wait and wait.... Finally the girl looked up and said "Oh, your coffee is up front" and smiled. I got my coffee, no name on it and it was cold. It tasted ok, but I didn't taste caramel. I won't go back, but I really...

Deliciously unique!

I heard about this place through a friend and was immediately intrigued when I saw the flavor notes of their various roasts. I don't live in the Bay Area, so I ordered a bag through their website for delivery.

I admit I was skeptical before trying, since I tend to drink light roasts almost exclusively. However, I ordered the Sidamo and each sip is wonderfully amazing. This would be my roaster of choice if I lived locally.

The reason for 4-stars is because it took 11 days for my order to be delivered, even though the shipping method is USPS 2-day priority. I checked their website and they now have listed that they ship orders every Wednesday & Friday; I can't remember if that was there when I ordered a few weeks ago, but I don't think it was (it's great that their shipping policy is clearly stated though!). However, I ordered on a Thursday; per their policy, my order should have shipped out the following Wednesday. Sadly, it did not get to USPS until Friday. I suspect this small delay is due to them recently opening and being swamped with new business; as they get into the swing of operating, these things should work themselves out.

So, as with any new business, have some empathy and patience; there may be a few minor hiccups when you order but I promise this place is worth it. Their coffee is some of the best I've ever had and you need it...

I tried three days in a row before I got in because the lines were so long, but it was worth the wait! For my drink, I ordered an iced matcha with oat milk. It was blended well and I appreciate that you have the option to add honey or vanilla. I also ordered a veggie quiche and ohmylanta I was not expecting it to be so good - I inhaled it in ten seconds. It was cooked evenly, with a crispy, flaky crust, and the egg wasn't watery or weepy at all. The last treat I had was their churro waffle, which an employee recommended to me. It was so thick, moist and fluffy, just heaven. I wonder if the syrup is made in-house too, seems higher quality than the grocery store kind. I came back today for another matcha and veggie quiche combo, and enjoyed my treats just as much as the first visit. Also, I super appreciate that the employee who helped me the first time asked me how to properly spell my name. Everyone here, from the owner to the customer is very patient and kind. And you can see from the pictures that the space has been lovingly decorated with vibrant murals and works(available to purchase!) from local BIPOC artists. Everything about this space reverberates good energy, and I. am. HERE for it ✨ I expect to be a frequent visitor, and truly hope that Nirvana Soul continues to thrive and be a place for people to get their body and...

Amazing coffee shop in downtown San Jose. Atmosphere was vibrant with pumping music (be warned if you’re not used to louder coffee shops). I arrived at 8AM on Sunday, so it wasn’t too busy. The flavored drinks (I had a Mocha & Ube Latte, both w/ whole milk) do come sweet, so politely ask your barista to work with your preferences and they will accommodate. The food was delicious; I tried the Veggie Quiche, Chorizo Waffle, and Sweet Potato Pie. The quiche had a perfect silky egg texture with a buttery, flaky crust and it was perfectly complemented by the few tomato pieces inside. The waffle was a bit plain with a filling of chorizo and cheese on the inside, but the seasoning was perfect (they do give you syrup and butter to add). The sweet potato pie was sweet but did not overwhelm the flavor of the warm spice blend and you can taste the marshmallow cream they top it off with, it’s definitely an “eat with black coffee” item. These food items were accumulated over many visits, they do fill you up. To end with, the baristas were kind and helpful, greeting everyone upon entry despite being busy supervising food and crafting drinks. I highly recommend everyone try Nirvana Soul.
