Contra Costa College is one of those rare institutions that actually lives up to what education should be about: opportunity, integrity, and growth. It doesnāt pretend to be something itās notāit simply delivers. Whether you're starting your academic journey, changing careers, or pushing for something bigger, CCC gives you a strong foundation. Faculty care, resources are targeted, and thereās a culture that rewards real effort and real intelligenceānot just appearances.
Compare that to UC Davis, which has increasingly become a performative institution built on image rather than impact. While it talks a big gameāabout innovation, diversity, excellenceāthe lived experience for many students doesnāt reflect that. Itās a system that favors those who fit the mold and discourages those who challenge it. Critical thinkers are often boxed in, while surface-level performance is applauded. The learning environment can feel hollowāmore focused on prestige than progress.
At Contra Costa College, bright minds are encouraged, not filtered out. Thereās no need to posture or play political gamesāyou just learn, grow, and move forward. UC Davis, by contrast, can feel like a place where keeping up appearances matters more than actual achievement. If you value authenticity, affordability, and real supportāCCC is a far...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a very unprofessional young speech tutor named Hayley Callaway, and her male associate, who I assume was a professor, who laughed at me when I had a bad anxiety attack while trying to perform my speech after tweaking it to her specifications. It was due that day and I wanted to make sure it was perfect. Ironically she also specializes in working with the disabled/ those with disabilities, so thats another slap in the face. I took my speech to an older professor, who exclaimed "who edited this" as if to say they didn't do their job. When we tweaked it again, it was pretty much the same, when I first started on it. Go figure.
My only gripe is that some tutors are slightly pretentious, especially the younger ones. Also some bias towards older students or those who may or may not be at the same level of education. I would suggest screening beforehand. Most of them can be rude or they tend to goof off occasionally. Besides this, CCC is pretty great.
The campus is great, the facility members are great, the faculty is great and the location is convenient. Minus a star for unprofessionalism and nearly making me have to take the class again when I was so close to graduating. Edit: I already...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDo not waste you time at this school ! You will be much better at dvc. The fact that the summer time the only have limited time for counselor drop ins no appointments only 15 min appointments and they try to rush you without answering any questions. There are always new teachers in classes that are lost at their own major. Then we have the fact that there are no cameras in parking area if you get your car hit like I did there is no proof if you have a late night class this is also a bad neighborhood. All around Iāve had many frustrating nights where I want someone to guide me on my journey to success and graduation and yet it cannot be done. Iām mad at how many times I have been hung up on because the counselors office isnāt in a good mood. Almost every department is ran by students with bad attitudes and no professional or peoples skills. I wait on hold for at least 10 minutes before speaking with someone if I even get to do that. All around if you are serious about your education. DO NOT COME HERE ! Everyone is so unhappy and they hate there...
