For the money, definitely not worth it. The service was good, they were very attentive. It took a while to get our initial drink order but fine afterwards. It is a cute place, I’d say “Southwest fancy” but the music is TERRIBLE!!! There was a sax player at the entrance and we were across the restaurant and could barely hear. It was basically a guy playing a riff of scales over and over with a simple song smattered in. It was so distracting and unnecessary, especially since they still had background music on. Please do not have live “music” in a venue like that when there isn’t space for it with such a loud instrument. It was very pretty otherwise, a nice mix of southwestern minimal but gawd awful music ruined it all. We asked for chips and guac which was technically a bar item but they were kind enough to bring some. The guac and salsa was so good!! The octopus starter was fresh even for a landlocked state and flavorful. It was perfectly charred, highly recommend if you like octopus. The risotto was wonderful. It’s not only a good vegetarian option, it’s a good option for us carnivores too! The dish is deceivingly small, the portion is plentiful and filling. It has a nice consistency and well spiced. The corn is a nice addition giving it a good southwestern spin on risotto. Highly recommend Salmon-no. It was dry, overcooked, and oddly seasoned. The seasonings were “big” so it overpowered the salmon. But, it doesn’t really matter because it wasn’t cooked well at all. I suppose that’s what I get for ordering salmon in NM. The skin char was good but cancelled out by a very overcooked fish. I think if it weren’t so overcooked it would’ve been better. Drinks-meh. Portions were not even remotely enough for the price. The coffee cocktail (I forgot the name) would be much better if it was served up, not on the rocks. The watermelon marg was nice, not sweet at all, had a Tajin rim which paired well with the marg itself but would be much better with a cucumber garnish to bring out the cucumber flavoring. Mine had a massive mint sprig (like a ton!) in mine but my cousin’s didn’t. I don’t know if I had a mint garnish and shouldn’t or hers should’ve and didn’t, but there should not be a mint garnish on a marg. It detracted from the flavor and the pour was very small. None of them were worth upwards of $18 or more. We stumbled into this place because we didn’t want to wait two hours somewhere else, we should’ve waited and spent under $200 for great food and it $300 for meh.

I would have given more stars if I were reviewing the food alone, but it was a bit snooty for my taste. I set out for a causal dinner and a different restaurant but because of their wait time, I ended up at this place, was less than welcoming. I waited at least 15 minutes to be acknowledged by a server at my table. I was not dressed fancy enough and the staff made me feel as much. My jeans and half zip sweater were clearly a giveaway I didn't set out for this place. Despite the hostess assuring me there was no dress code. I was left waiting for at least 15 minutes for someone to greet me. My server tried to upsell the hell out of me but I only wanted a light meal. The waitstaff were not friendly AT ALL. The NICEST person there was the hostess. I've never felt so unwelcome when I'm spending money at someone's business. When I tried telling the hostess about it she said, I can go get the manager. I wasn't really interested in complaining that hard core. At that moment, the manager was walking by and she signaled to him to talk to me and he looked at me, turned his head and kept walking. I swear, l could not believe the overall attitude of this place. So needless to say, my complain on site went unaddressed so here we are on Google instead. I'd be hard pressed to ever visit again. My appetizer was good and my server said he made the old fashioned which was also good. I'd only return for the food and drinks NOT the service or atmosphere.

I, and four friends joined me for lunch at The Anasazi Restaurant. We all ordered the Fish Tacos. As another Local Guide mentioned (but alas I only just saw her review), these were the blandest fish tacos any of us had ever eaten. The sauces added nothing. One was red, one was green. Neither had any particular zing. We were all very disappointed. How can you screw up fish tacos? At least the ingredients were fresh. The service was good and attentive. The atmosphere was pleasant. We could actually hear each other converse.

UPDATE Apr 24, 2022: So, not sure what has happened between September 2021 until this past weekend, however, I am changing my rating of this location drastically. We were so excited to come back to this restaurant especially after the awesome service and food we experienced last September. However, this visit was the complete opposite. And, it was also evident by the fact that the restaurant was barely half full. We were seated and our server took our drink and food orders, poured our first glass of wine and everything was fine. Other people brought out our food, but then we never saw our server ever again for the next 45 minutes. She stopped by the table next to us several times but never even turned her head over to us. Even when we were looking to get another glass of wine. It almost became comical....kind of a test to see whether she would look at us or even approach our table to see how things were. Luckily, there was a gentleman who served us our bread and poured our water and he came to the rescue. Poured us our second glasses of wine and even provided additional silverware when we needed it. He saved the night! As such, as gave him a an extra special cash tip while we docked the tip on our bill due to the extremely poor service. And, that was just the service. The food was awful!!! Ok, the salad was fine (tomatoes and burrata, but how can you mess that up?). I ordered the sea bass which was tasteless and completely overcooked. Dry. This was their chorizo crusted sea bass.....both the sea bass and chorizo have fat associated with it yet the entire dish was dry as cardboard and tasteless. My husband ordered the steak medium rare and it came out medium. Also overcooked. Tasted fine, but tough and dry. So extremely disappointed. I used to have this restaurant saved as a favorite place on my Google maps account, but no longer! HORRIBLE! STAY AWAY! Totally not worth the cost.

Sep 26, 2021: AWESOME! There is no other way to describe this place. Service was excellent and very professional, polite; food was fantastic! Everything we ordered was delicious. I got the Caesar salad and bison entree. The most tender and tasty bison ever! Chocolate torte dessert was mouth watering! Sooo good. Not too sweet, not too rich. Just perfect. Highly, highly...

Popped in for a quick lunch after running errands in town, but it was anything but quick.

When we walked up to the hotel, the door was blocked by 4 employees gathered in a circle and chatting. They did not move as we approached, but merely glanced at us and kept talking, resulting in us needing to squeeze past. Entering the restaurant, there was no one to greet us, so we sat ourselves and let the hostess know as she walked by.

It went downhill from there. The server attempted to take our order while my wife was in the restroom and when I asked to wait until her return, she mumbled something, spun on her heel and strode away. She did not return for quite some time...all the while our water sat empty. We finally flagged down the same hostess and she sent out our server. Orders were taken, water was refilled, and again we waited. The food arrived and it was underwhelming at best. My wife had the heirloom tomato salad and the tomatoes were underripe. I had the poke tuna burger. While deciding, I thought poke tuna was not the best choice for a burger, but figured the chef knew what he was doing so, why not? Well, I'll tell you. The "burger" was sloppy and fell apart, the delicate flavors of the tuna were overpowered by whatever sauce was slathered upon it and the fries were cold. Cocktails, although taking forever to arrive, were very good, as usual.

All in all, this experience cost us $140 and over 2 hours of our lives. Very disappointing. Its a shame, this place had been a favorite of mine, but with the number of other dining choices in SF, there's no need to return and risk another...
