We recently purchased a five-year-old home with a typical builder's kitchen. I have an education and professional background in design and work in a business with an interior design team. When we decided to renovate our first floor and embrace our urban contemporary/mid-century-inspired design aesthetic, our interior design team chose Billue (the owner of Metro), a student and lover of mid-century design, as the lead kitchen designer.

We were thrilled to discover that Buille expertly understood the elements of mid-century design. During the first site visit, Biulle examined relationships between structural elements inside and outside the kitchen, which led to the demolition of two walls (that even I did not consider). They were relatively minor structural changes that created a cohesive overall design aesthetic. Ultimately, all of this ended with us having a kitchen we could not be happier with.

With no project ever a perfect one, there was one minor snag. We had approved a design for the cabinets over the refrigerator that, after installation, didn't work for us. Billue, our design team, and I brainstormed alternative designs for over a week, and the final design hit the mark. It was an example of how even the best drawings and renderings cannot alway predict the final design experience. We love our new kitchen, and we love to cook! We cook a lot and are a family that rarely eats out, which is why it was extremely important for me to not only have a beautiful kitchen, but a functional one as well. David had a meeting with us before the start of the project to go over what our preferences were and constructed the perfect layout that accommodated all of our needs. He truly understood what was required from the space and built a place that bring our family together. It was very important to me that while I’m in the kitchen I would not feel isolated and excluded from the rest of the people in the house. We like to entertain and needed an open concept kitchen to accommodate cooking together with friends. The design was well thought out and really suits the style of the home. We worked with David Shay on design and installation for the whole project. The project was done during the construction boom and the delivery dates were moved only by 1 week. We are in the process of redesigning our condo kitchen on Lido Beach, FL. Working with designer Martha Hafner has been a dream for us. Happily, she and Metro Cabinet Company were recommended by another condo owner in our building. Martha made the entire process of choosing the best design and cabinets for our space so easy. Her suggestions were always spot on, yet she is truly a good listener! Because of my age, I needed cabinets that would make my life a little easier and my kitchen design more efficient. Martha incorporated all of my needs into her design. She also was able to recommend a wonderful construction company, a lighting store and electrician, a flooring company and so much more.
